Location of Driver: \WIN98\AON325.SYS Contents of the Subdirectory: ============================= AON325.SYS The NDIS5 driver for Windows 98. AON325.INF The installation information file. Installation: ============= Before starting with the installation process, make sure that the adapter is properly installed and configured. 1.When you plug the AON-325 in the mother board and power on the Windows 98, the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window will prompt and says that The wizard search for new driver for: PCI Ethernet Controller 2.In the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window,click 'Next' then it will ask you 'What do you want Windows to do?'. Choose the item that Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want. Click 'Next'. 3.And select 'Network Adapters' for the type of the device, then click 'Next'. It will prompt a 'Select device' window. 4.Click 'Have Disk' button. In the 'Install From Disk' window, put the driver disk in the floppy drive and enter the driver path i.e. 'A:\WIN98' in combo list and click 'OK'. It will show 'AOpen AON-325 10/100M Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter' in the Models field of 'Select Device' window. Click 'OK'. 5.There will show 'A:\WIN98\AON325.INF' in the Location of driver field for the device 'AOpen AON-325 10/100M Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter' in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window. Click 'Next'. 6.Specify the path of the driver files i.e A:\WIN98, then the Windows will copy the necessary files for the driver and system files. Click 'Finish'. 7.Select the appropriate Connection Type (default is Auto-Negotiation). Click 'OK'. 8.If this is your first time to install the Ethernet adapter and have not install the protocols and clients for Microsoft and Netware, please do NOT restart the computer. Go to the Start\Settings\Control and double-click the Network icon to install the other necessary files for the network operation. Windows 98 will ask you Do you want to restart your computer now?, Click 'Yes' to restart the Windows 98. Change the property of AON-325: =================================== There are some properties that you can change for your application. 1. Connection Type: 100M Full Mode 100M Half Mode 10M Full Mode 10M Half Mode Auto Mode (Default value) You can change the speed to be 10M or 100M and change to be the Full duplex or Half duplex. The default value is Auto Mode, i.e. AON-325 will talk with connection Hub or Switch with auto-negotiation to decide the optimal connection type. 2. Enable PME: Disable Enable (Default value) Hardware Default You can set the behavior of the PMEEN register. In Disable,the PMEEN bit is always set to be 0 in spite of the OS operation. In Enable,the PMEEN bit is always set to be 1 in spite of the OS operation. In Hardware Default,the PMEEN will be 0 in the initial state and it will be changed by the OS operation. When PMEEN is 0, AON-325 will NOT be able to trigger the PMEEN signal. When PMEEN is 1, AON-325 will be able to trigger the PMEEN signal. 3. WakeUp Frame: Disable Enable (Default value) In Disable, the WakeUp Frame function will be disable. In Enable, the Wakeup Frame function is Enable.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
