Driver Installation Guide for Windows NT 5.0 ================================================== Introduction ============ This document describes the procedure to install NDIS 5.0 driver on Windows NT 5.0 for FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter. Location of Driver: \WIN2000\SISNIC.SYS Installation procedure ====================== 1. Install the card in one of PCI slot and connect the cable to the network; turn on the computer and start Windows NT. 2. When Windows NT starts, a "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears identifying the card as a "Ethernet Controller"; Select "Search for a suitable driver for your device [Recommended]". If the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box does not appear, Windows NT fails to detect your adapter. There may be problem with the adapter itself or with the system BIOS. 3. Click Next then only enable the "Specify a location" check box; Insert the FriendlyNET PCI595 PCI drivers diskette in drive A: 4. Click Next then specify correct driver path, e.g. A:\WIN2000. 5. Click Ok then Windows NT will indicate that it will install the driver using A:\WIN2000\NETSIS.INF 6. Click Next to let Windows NT finishes the driver installation. Adapter Configuration ===================== 1. Double click "My Computer". 2. Double click "Control Panel". 3. Double click "System" icon. 4. Click "Hardware" tab then click "Device Manager..." 5. Open "Network Adapters" icon. 6. Double click "FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter [NDIS5]" then a properties page appears. 7. Click "Advanced" tab. 8. Here, you can set the following properties: a. MediaType: ---------- 100BaseTX 100BaseTX Full_Duplex 10BaseT Full_Duplex 10BaseT AUTO_CONFIG ;Default value if not set b. NetworkAddress: --------------- Override the adapter's Ethernet address. Legal values are xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, where xx is a hexadecimal byte value. Unless necessary, do NOT modify this field and let the system use the default Ethernet address contained in the serial ROM on the adapter.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
