Driver Installation Guide for Windows 95 ============================================== Introduction ============ This document describes the procedure to install NDIS 3.0 driver on Windows 95 for FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter. Location of Driver: \WIN95\SISNIC.SYS Installation procedure ====================== 1. Install the card in one of PCI slot and connect the cable to the network; turn on the computer and start Windows 95. **HAVE YOUR WINDOWS 95 CD ROM AVAILABLE** because you will need to copy some additional system files. 2. When Windows 95 starts, a "New Hardware Found" dialog box appears identifying the card as a "PCI Ethernet Controller". Select "Driver from disk provided by the hardware manufacturer" then click OK. NOTE, if the "New Hardware Found" dialog box does not appear, please do the followings a. After entering Windows 95, double click "My Computer". b. Double click "Control Panel". c. Double click "System". d. Click the "Device Manager" tab. e. Open "Other Devices" (with "?" icon on it). f. Select "PCI Ethernet Controller" then click "Remove" button. Note, if you do not see any "PCI Ethernet Controller", Windows 95 fails to detect your adapter. There may be problem with the adapter itself or with the system BIOS. g. Restart Windows 95 and goto step 2. 3. Insert the "FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter Drivers Disk" in your floppy drive and specify the correct path, i.e. A:\Win95, then click OK. 4. Follow the rest screen instructions to complete the installation. 5. You should restart your computer for the changes to take effect after the installation is complete. Adapter Configuration ===================== 1. Double click "My Computer". 2. Double click "Control Panel". 3. Double click "Network" icon. 4. Select "FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter [NDIS3]" then click "Properties..." button. 5. Click "Advanced" tab. 6. Here, you can set the following properties: <1>. MediaType 100BaseTX 100BaseTX Full_Duplex 10BaseT Full_Duplex 10BaseT AUTO_CONFIG ;Default value if not set <2>. NetworkAddress Override the adapter's Ethernet address. Legal values are xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, where xx is a hexadecimal byte value. Unless necessary, do NOT modify this field and let the system use the default Ethernet address contained in the serial ROM on the adapter. 7. After setting the properties, you must restart your computer to make the changes effective.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
