	       Driver Installation Guide for SCO UNIX 5.X
	    ================================================

Introduction
============
    This document describes the procedure to install the SCO UNIX 5.X
    MDI driver for FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter.

Installation Procedure
======================
    Before you start with the installation process,  make sure that the
    SCO UNIX system is properly installed. Similarly,your adapter should
    also be properly installed in your machine.

    1. Installation Diskette in DOS format.
       Put PCI595 SCO UNIX Driver diskette to floppy A: and use doscp
       command to copy SIS SCO UNIX PCI Driver into UNIX's directories.

       # doscp a:/sco5/sisimg /tmp/sisimg
	 (make new directory "tmp" if nonexist)
       # cd /tmp
       # tar xvf sisimg
       # uncompress VOL*.Z (upper-case letter)

    2. Use custom utility

       # custom

       .select "install new software"
       .select "install from media image"
       .type "/tmp"

    3. Use netconfig utility

       # netconfig

       .To add adapters, select "Add New Lan Adapter" from "Hardware".
       .Add Protocol to select SCO TCP/IP.
       .Enter the internet Address of this interface   (n.n.n.n)
       .Enter the netmask for this interface	  (default 255.255.255.0)
       .Enter the boardcast address for this interface (default: n.n.n.n)
       .Do you want to relink to kernel now ?		    y
       .Do you want this kernel to boot by default (y/n)    y
       .Do you want the kernel environment rebuilt (y/n)    y
       .Reboot unix

       # init 6

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
