            Driver installation Guide for NetWare v4.x server
         =======================================================

Introduction
============
    This document describes the procedure to install Netware 4.x server
    driver for FriendlyNET PCI595 Fast Ethernet Adapter.

    Location of Driver: \NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X\SIS900.LAN

    Note: If you upgraded MSM.NLM, ETHERTSM.NLM and NBI.NLM that was
           created later than Dec 1997, you should use the driver in
           directory (\NETWARE\SRVRODI.50).

Installation Procedure
======================

 A. Installing driver for NetWare 4.10 server:
    ------------------------------------------
    Because this version of driver follows Novell ODI Driver
    Specification Version 3.3, the old server must be patched to work
    well with this driver.

    1. If you can log into the server as a "ADMIN", copy SIS900.LAN,
       NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM, and ETHERTSM.NLM from the Driver Diskette
       subdirectory (\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X) into the NetWare 4.10 sub-
       directory SYSTEM of your server. (If some files exist, rename
       the existing files in the SYSTEM subdirectory).

    2. Boot NetWare file server by executing "SERVER" as you usually do.

    3. When the NetWare 386 prompt appears (indicated by a colon), load
       the server driver manually, simply type:

       : LOAD NBI
       : LOAD MSM
       : LOAD ETHERTSM
       : LOAD SIS900 Frame=Ethernet_xxxxx

       or, you can directly load file from the driver disk :

       : LOAD A:\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X\NBI
       : LOAD A:\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X\MSM
       : LOAD A:\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X\ETHERTSM
       : LOAD A:\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X\SIS900 Frame=Ethernet_xxxxx

       Note:  * NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM, ETHERTSM.NLM will be auto-loaded by
                loading LAN driver.
              * Frame type depends on your network frame type.
                (Default frame type is Ethernet_802.2).

    4. Bind IPX to the adapter driver. At the NetWare server prompt,
       type:

       : BIND IPX to SIS900 Net=xxxxx

       Note: Net value depends on your network configuration.

    5. Add the load and bind statements you require to the server's
       AUTOEXEC.NCF file so that the LAN driver will load automatically
       each time the server starts up.

 B. Installing driver for NetWare 4.11 server:
    ------------------------------------------
    1. Boot NetWare file server by executing "SERVER" as you usually do.

    2. At the NetWare prompt (indicated by the Server name), run the
       INSTALL.NLM program by typing:

       : LOAD INSTALL <Enter>

    3. Select "Maintenance/Selective Install" and press <Enter>.

    4. Select "LAN Driver Options (Configure/Load/...)" and press <Enter>.

    5. Press the <Ins> key to specify other drivers to install.

    6. Press <F3> and specify the driver path (A:\NETWARE\SRVRODI.4X) and
       press <Enter>.

    7. The "SIS900.LAN" driver should appear in your choice list for the
       'Select a LAN Driver' field. Choose this driver to start the driver
       loading and binding procedure. This will allow you to load and bind
       all 4 frame types supported by NetWare.

    8. Add the LOAD and BIND statements you require to the server's
       AUTOEXEC.NCF file so that the LAN driver will load automatically
       each time the server starts up.

Optional LOAD line parameters
=============================

    1. SLOT (Required for multiple cards)

       Specifies the NBI (NetWare Bus Interface) slot number.

       For PCI adapters, SLOT is derived from bus number and device
       location as defined by the PCI specification. One way to determine
       the slot number is to load the driver from the command line. You'll
       be prompted with valid device number(s) for the adapter(s). Select
       one of them.

       Syntax:  SLOT=n     (n = 1,2,3,4,...)

    2. NODE

       Specifies a local administered address (LAA) unique to each adapter.

       Use this option to provide your own unique node address for the
       adapter. The node address is a 12-digit hexadecimal number; the
       second digit must be one of the following digits: 2, 6, A, E.

       Syntax: NODE=xnxxxxxxxxxx

       n = 2, 6, A, E
       x = hexadecimal number

       Default: The adapter's assigned address.

    3. MEDIATYPE

       Specifies the mediatype that is currently used.

       Use this option to force your connection type. We support the
       fallowing media types:

          Type       Ethernet Standard    Duplex
        --------     -----------------    ------
         AUTO          auto-detect         Auto
         UTP           10BASE-T            Half
         UTPFULL       10BASE-T            Full
         FAST          100BASE-T           Half
         FASTFULL      100BASE-T           Full

       Syntax: MEDIATYPE=Type

       Type: see above.

       Default: Auto-Detect.
