Installing driver on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

   1)  In the "My Computer" folder of NT, choose the Control Panel icon.

   2)  In the Control Panel window, choose the Network icon.

   3)  In the Network Settings dialog box, choose the Add button in Adapter
       Tag.The Select Network Adapter dialog box appears.

   4)  In the list of network cards, select "Have Disk...".

   5)  Insert this driver disk in drive A, enter drive and pathname A:\NT40
       and then choose the OK button.

   6)  In the Select OEM Option dialog box, you will see the following
       product in the menu, click OK button to install it.

   7)  And then AcerLAN ALN-315 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter
       Setup dialog box appear, you must specify "Connection Type" of the
       adapter plugged in your PC. Because netcard media detection function
       does not support in SETUP, please make sure these setting matching
       your adapter's configurations. Otherwise the network ability of
       Windows NT can not work properly.

       The connection types for AcerLAN ALN-315 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet
       Adapter are

        AutoSense                          ; perform automatic media
                                           ; detection during driver
                                           ; initialization.

        10BaseT (TP)                       ; RJ-45 connector, line speed is
                                           ; 10 Mega bits per second.

        10BaseT (TP) Full_Duplex           ; communication in full duplex mode,
                                           ; speed is 20Mbps.

        100Base-TX (TP 100)                ; RJ-45 connector, line speed is
                                           ; 100 Mega bits per second.

        100Base-TX (TP 100) Full_Duplex    ; communication in full duplex mode,
                                           ; speed is 200Mbps.

   8)  After that, installation is completed. ALN-315 adapter becomes one
       of those Installed Adapter Cards and driver become one of those
       Installed Network Software. You can see: "[0x]AcerLAN ALN-315 10/100
       Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter"  within Installed Network Adapters.

   9)  Now, the SETUP program has already copied ALN315.SYS from A:\NT40
       directory to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and the OEMSETUP.INF from
       A: to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 but renamed it to other installation
       information file. So next time, if you want to add AcerLAN
       ALN-315 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet Adapter to your system, you
       do not need floppy diskette again.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINNT is the directory where your NT O.S. is located.


  10)  Restarting your system you will acquire network service.

How To Update Drivers Manually

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
