Windows 98 Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to install Windows 98 driver for AcerLAN ALN-101 PnP Ethernet Adapter. Location of Driver: \WIN98\ALN101.SYS NDIS 3 Mini-Port DRIVER Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows 98: ----------------------------------------------------- When you plug the ALN-101 in the mother board and power on the Windows 98,the OS will detect AcerLAN ALN-101TB Plug and Play Ethernet Adapter.Because ALN-101 is NE2000 compatible so 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window will prompt and says that The wizard search for new driver for: NE2000 Compatible To have the resource's conflict-free feature,you should install the driver from the distribution disk instead of the systems's NE2000 driver. In the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window,click 'Next' then it will ask you 'What do you want Windows to do?'. Choose the item that 'Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location,so you can select the driver you want.' Click 'Next'.It will prompt a 'Select device' window. Click 'Have Disk' button. In the 'Install From Disk' window,put the driver disk in the floppy drive and enter the driver path i.e. 'a:\win98' in combo list and click 'OK'. It will show 'AcerLAN ALN-101 PnP Ethernet Adapter' in the Models field of 'Select Device' window.Click 'OK'. There will show 'A:\WIN98\ALN101.INF' in the Location of driver field for the device 'AcerlAN ALN-101 PnP Ethernet Adapter' in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window.Click 'Next'. Specify the path of the driver files i.e a:\win98,then the Windows will copy the necessary files for the driver and system files.Click 'Finish'. If this is your first time to install the Ethernet adapter and have not installed the protocols and clients for Microsoft and Netware,please do NOT restart the computer.Go to the Start\Settings\Control and double-click the Network icon to install the other necessary files for the network operation. Windows 98 will ask you Do you want to restart your computer now?, Click 'Yes' to restart the Windows 98.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
