     2.0 Installing and Configuring with the INSTALL Program

       The INSTALL program contained on this installation diskette can help
       you easily install and configure your Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card and
       network operating system. If the INSTALL program does not work
       correctly please install and configure the enabler and network
       operating system files manually.

       Installation of the enabler is described in section 3. Installation
       of the network operating system drivers is described in README.TXT
       files in each of the appropriate directories.

     2.1 Overview of the INSTALL Program

       A. Can auto-configure the Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card for most
          notebook computers.

       B. Can modify some Networking Operating System files that are
          necessary for your Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card under the following
          networking systems:

           Novell Netware
           Microsoft LAN Manger
           Microsoft Windows for Workgroups
           Artisoft LANtastic v6.x
           Packet Driver

       C. Can copy the proper files to the subdirectories where the network
          operating system files are installed.

     2.2 What You Need Before Running INSTALL

       A. Before installing your Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card, you must first
          make sure that your network operating system is already installed.

       B. Make sure that the Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card has been inserted
          into your system's PCMCIA socket.

     2.3 How to run INSTALL program

       To run INSTALL, at the DOS prompt type:

           A:\>INSTALL

       Read each screen carefully and respond appropriately to each prompt.

     3.0 Manually Installing and Configuring the Enabling Software

       3.1 Overview of Enabling Software

         As with other PCMCIA devices, the Relia PCMCIA Ethernet Card must
         be enabled by a software program before it can be used.

         There are two kinds of PCMCIA enabler software:

           * Direct Enablers.
           * Card and Socket Services client drivers.

         Whenever the card has been powered off (when the card is removed
         or the computer goes into "sleep" mode), the direct enabler must
         be executed again.

       3.2 Installing the Enabling Software Manually

         3.2.1 Overview of the Enabler --- ENABLER.EXE

           The ENABLER.EXE program provides both direct enabler and
           client driver functions.

           If you do not have card and socket service software installed,
           you should install direct enabler to enable your Relia PCMCIA
           Ethernet Card.

           The enabler ENABLER.EXE program contained on this disk is used
           both as a device driver used in your computer's CONFIG.SYS file,
           and also as an executable program run from the DOS prompt.

           This version will directly configure the Relia PCMCIA Ethernet
           Card for the following PCMCIA controllers:

             Intel 82365SL (and compatibles)
             Vadem VG-365/465
             Cirrus Logic
             Databook TCIC
             Sharp PHIC
             IBM ThinkPad
             Toshiba 3300

           and act as client driver when the Socket Services and Card
           Services presented in your system.

           ENABLER.EXE can also enable the card using Socket Services
           versions 1.xx and 2.xx, if Socket Services is present but Card
           Services is not.

         3.2.2 Using ENABLER.EXE in CONFIG.SYS

           You can create or modify your system's CONFIG.SYS using a text
           editor.

           The enabler CONFIG.SYS command line has the format:

             without Socket Services and Card Services installed:
             DEVICE=[path]\ENABLER.EXE [/IRQ=x] [/MEM=mm] [/IO=nnn]

             with Socket Services and Card Services installed:
             DEVICE=[path]\ENABLER.EXE [/IRQ=x] [/IO=nnn]

             where [path] is the drive and pathname of the directory
             containing DIRECTEN.EXE.

             Valid options:
                     x   = Interrupt number (3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15)
                     mm  = Hex memory location (e.g. C0, C8, D0, D8)
                     nnn = IO range (300, 320, 340, 360)

         3.2.3 Using ENABLER.EXE from the DOS Prompt

           The enabler DOS command line has the format:

             without Socket Services and Card Services installed:
             ENABLER [/IRQ=x] [/MEM=mm] [/IO=nnn] [/SKT=z] [/O] [/?]

             with Socket Services and Card Services installed:
             ENABLER [/IRQ=x] [/IO=nnn]  [/?]

             Valid options:
                     x   = Interrupt number (3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15)
                     mm  = Hex memory location (e.g. C0, C8, D0, D8)
                     nnn = IO range (300, 320, 340, 360)
                     z   = Socket (0 to 7).
                     /O  (overwrites current socket settings).
                     /?  Displays this screen.

             Note: if the /SKT parameter is omitted, ENABLER.EXE will
                   automatically detect the socket where the card is
                   inserted.

         3.2.4 Cautions

           A. If socket servives presented in your system, you should add
              the ENABLER.EXE utility line in CONFIG.SYS after the lines
              for card and socket services utilities.

           B. If you add the "DEVICE=[path]\ENABLER.EXE ...." line after
              any memory management software, you should tell the memory
              manager to exclude the memory area set by /MEM=mm parameter.
              Consult the following table to determine what memory address
              ranges to exclude:

                Setting         Range
                /MEM=C0         X=C000-C7FF
                /MEM=C8         X=C800-CFFF
                /MEM=D0         X=D000-D7FF
                /MEM=D8         X=D800-DFFF

              Note: Only applicable to the case "without Socket Services
                    and Card Services installed"

           B. If Socket Services software is installed, but Card Services
              is not, you should add the "DEVICE=[path]\ENABLER.EXE ... "
              line after the Socket Services software DEVICE= line.

       3.3 Installing the Enabling Software Manually for OS/2

         3.3.1 Overview of the Direct Enabler --- DIRECTEN.OS2

           If you do not have card and socket service software installed,
           you should install the direct enabler to enable your Relia
           PCMCIA Ethernet Card.

           The direct enabler DIRECTEN.OS2 program contained on this disk
           is used as a device driver used in your computer's CONFIG.SYS
           file.

           This version will directly configure the Relia PCMCIA Ethernet
           Card for the following PCMCIA controllers:

               Intel 82365SL (and compatibles)
               Vadem VG-365/465
               Cirrus Logic
               Databook TCIC
               Sharp PHIC
               IBM ThinkPad
               Toshiba 3300

           Configuration is also possible via Socket Services versions 1.xx
           and 2.xx.

         3.3.2 Using DIRECTEN.OS2 in CONFIG.SYS

           You can create or modify your system's CONFIG.SYS using a text
           editor.

           The direct enabler CONFIG.SYS command line has the format:

           DEVICE=[path]\DIRECTEN.EXE [/IRQ x] [/MEM mm] [/IO nnn] [/SKT z]

           where [path] is the drive and pathname of the directory
           containing DIRECTEN.OS2.

               Valid options:
                       x   = Interrupt number (3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15)
                       mm  = Hex memory location (e.g. C0, C8, D0, D8)
                       nnn = IO range (300, 320, 340, 360)
                       z   = Socket (0 to 7).

           Note: if the /SKT parameter is omitted, DIRECTEN.OS2 will
                 automatically detect the socket where the card is inserted.

     4.0 Manually Installing and Configuring the Network Drivers

       You can find additional information about network device drivers in
       the README.TXT files located in each of the respective
       subdirectories.

     5.0 Diagnostic --- DIAG.EXE
       DIAG.EXE will run the following test to make sure the hardware
       components of your Relia RE2408 PC Card are functional:

                I/O Port Assignment
