The system must contain the following Intel Chipsets: Grantsdale Chipset 2. The software should be installed on systems with at least 128 MB of system memory. 3. There should be sufficient hard disk space in the <TEMP> directory on the system in order to install this software. The drivers included with this distribution package are designed to function with all released versions of Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP. Please check with your system provider to determine the operating system and Intel Chipset used in your system. ************************************************************ * 2. INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ General Installation Notes: 1. The operating system must be installed prior to the installation of the driver. 2. This installation procedure is specific only to the version of driver and installation file included in this release. 3. This procedure assumes that all of the software associated with this release is located in the same directory. 4. Please make sure the driver is installed with an appropriate system BIOS (ver 20) for complete functionality of driver features. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS -------------------------------------------- To install from a Web download, you will download a ZIP file from the Web. You must unzip (extract) it using a utility such as WinZip* or PKZip*. The unzipped file will contain exe files corresponding to the language chosen. 1) Click on install.bat. A dialog box with the High Definiftion Audio Setup Wizard should pop-up. 2) Click 'next' and check 'I Agree' for the license agreement. 3) Click finish once the drivers install process is complete 4) The High Definiftion Audio bus and function drivers should have been installed on the system. Microsoft Windows* XP/2000 Installation Instructions ---------------------------------------------------- 1. Right click on "My Computer" icon and then click on "properties". 2. Click on "Hardware" Tab and select "device manager". (NOTE: IF UPDATING DRIVER GO TO STEP 3B) 3. Double click "Computer Telephony Device"(WinXP) . 4. Click on "driver" tab and select "Update Driver". 5. Click on the "Next" button. 6. Select the following option: "Display a list of the known drivers for this device...". Click on the "Next" button. (NOTE: IF UPDATING DRIVER GO TO STEP 8) 7. Click on the "Have Disk..." button and then the "Browse" button. 8. Enter the directory where you unzipped the drivers highlight the "hdaudbus.inf" file. Click on the "Open" button. 10. Click on the "OK" button. A window listing all of the available High Definition Audio devices should open. Select the Azalia device that your system contains and then click on the "Next" button. 11. Click on the "Next" button. The operating system will install the "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (hdaudbus.sys) driver. Click on the "Finish" button when done. 12. Once hdaudbus.sys is loaded, device manager -> "Other devices" will have an "High Definition Audio Function Driver" 13. copy new portcls.sys from the install packaget to %system_root%\Driver Cache\i386 directory and reboot the system. 14. Select Other devices -> "High Definition Audio Function Driver" in device manager 15. Right click the "High Definition Audio Function Driver" and in the 'properties' page select "Update Driver" 16. Select Install from a list or specific location and click "Next" 17. Select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install" and click "Next" 18. Select Sound Video and Game controllers and click "Next" 19. Click "Have Disk" and navigate to the directory with hdaudio.inf, hdaudio.sys and the new portcls.sys 20. Select azaud.inf and click "Open", click "Ok" 21. Select "Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio - Codec #<number>" and click "next". 22. Click "continue anyway" on the warning regarding Windows Logo. To determine if the driver has been loaded correctly, refer to the Verifying Installation section below. The Microsoft High Definition Audio Device Manager Property Page ---------------------------------------------------------------- To open the driver property page, open Windows device manager, double click the UAA audio driver & select the “Advanced Settings”. The following settings may be changed in the HD Audio driver property page. In some cases proper working of the feature changes may require a driver restart (for OS audio subsystem to detect the changes). 1. Independent front panel 2. Muting of rear speakers when headphone is inserted. 3. S/P-DIF slaving of rear render PCM when no compressed digital (i.e. AC3) stream. 4. S/P-DIF input and output sample rates. 5. For single triple-stack jack implementations, the "Maximize Playback Channels" option is changed in the Device Profile dialog. ************************************************************ * 4. VERIFYING INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ 1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon, then double click on the "Control Panel" icon, and then double click on the "System" icon. 2. Click on "Hardware" Tab and select "device manager". Click on the "System Devices". The DFW Azalia Driver should be listed and not yellow banged. If not, the driver is not installed correctly. To check the version of the driver, refer to the section below. ************************************************************ * 5. IDENTIFYING THE SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER ************************************************************ 1. Double Click on "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio", 2. Select the "Driver" tab and then click on the "Driver Details" button. 3. The High Definition Audio driver (hdaudbus.sys) version should be listed on this screen. ************************************************************ * 6. UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE ************************************************************ NOTE: This procedure assumes the above installation process was successful. This uninstallation procedure is specific only to the version of the driver and installation files included in this package. 1. Click "Start" then right click on "My Computer" icon and then click on properties. 2. Click on "Hardware" Tab and select "device manager". 3. Double click on "System Devices". 3. Right click on "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio" and select properties 4. Click on the "uninstall" button to uninstall the driver. ************************************************************ * 7. INSTALLATION SWITCHES AVAILABLE ************************************************************ The switches in the SETUP.EXE file will have the following syntax. Switches must be separated by spaces. -a Just extracts the binary files on the system to the default folder (%SystemRoot%/Program Files/Intel/Intel Azalia Driver). Does not install the drivers. -p <path> Used in conjunction with the - a switch will extract to the psth different from the folder. -build Gives the build number for the installer -? After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
