	Upgrade Procedure for Hi-Speed xD/SM Readers

WINDOWS 98SE
1. Install the Windows 98SE driver by running the DMReaders.exe file.

Windows ME, 2000 AND xp
1.Driver installation is not necessary for Windows Me, 2000 or XP.

2. Connect the Hi-Speed reader to any available USB port
(both USB1.1 Full Speed or USB2.0 High Speed ports can be used)

3. Launch the FlashWriter_S.exe program then click Load

4. From the list select the "Xrom_v128.OBJ" file (THIS SHOULD BE THE ONLY FILE LISTED)
 and click Open. 

5. Click the Auto button and within 1 or 2 minutes the message "OK" should appear. If there is no activity for 5 minutes then click Exit and move to step 7 below.

Important Usage Notes:
Depending on the operating system used various error messages may be displayed during the
flash update process. For example in Windows 2000 and Windows Me a dialog will indicate 
"Unsafe Removal of Device", which is normal and can be acknowledged by pressing OK. In 
Windows XP a "Systems Settings Change" dialog will appear requesting your computer to be
restarted, make sure to select "NO" until the Upgrade process has been completed.

6. Once the "OK" message is shown click "Exit" to close the Flash Writer utility


7. Remove the reader from the USB port and reboot the computer

8. Once the reboot process is totally completed, reattach the reader and wait for the installation process to complete.

9. Insert the 512 MB xD card into the reader and it should be able to be read.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
