This README.TXT covers information that was not yet known or
available when the user documentation shipped with this product
was written. It includes update information, additional
installation instructions, limitations to the current version of
the product, and suggestions to solve known issues or problems.

1.  SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION

1.1 About this software
    This Driver supports the Alvarion Wireless PC Card.

1.2 Files Installed
    
   The following software is provided.

2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Operating System
    The drivers can be installed on the operating systems
    Windows CE 3.00.

2.2 Certified Notebooks

    * Compaq IPAC H3660

3.  INSTALLATION

3.1 Requirements

    The MS-Windows CE operating system exists in various 
    versions, and runs on different processor types. 
    Prior to installation check which version of 
    Microsoft Windows CE and processor are used by your
    Handheld PC (HPC) device:

    1.  Power up your Handheld device.
    2.  Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
    3.  Point to Settings, and select the item Control Panel.
    4.  On the control Panel, double-click the icon "System" 
        to display the System properties.

    To be able to use the Alvarion Wireless PC Card with your device
    using the current driver, your handheld device must match
    the following requirements:

    *   Microsoft Windows CE v3.00
    *   Processor Types: SA1100


3.2 Installation of the driver

    Handheld PC (HPC) devices running Windows CE are typically 
    used in combination with another computer running
    "Active Sync" to transfer data between this computer
    and your handheld device.
    
    Steps to do:

    -   Install Active Sync on your Desktop
    -   Astablish a connection beetween your handheld and your
        desktop PC via a standard seriell connection.
    -   Copy the cabinetfile according to the Handheld`s Cpu-type
        to the root Directory ("\") of your handheld.
        This is done via Cut and Paste operation.
    -   At the handheld doubleclick the transfered cabinet file.
        The files will be installed in the "windows" directory.
    -   Insert the Alvarion PC Card.
        The IP Config menu will appear.
        Assign a IP address, a subnet mask, gateway and a DNS server.
        The default Network SSID is "BreezeNET".
    -   Reset your Handheld to activate the IP Settings.
    -   An indication for a properly working Comcard is the LED state of
        the comcard.

    -   You can change the settings by starting the 
        "Start->Settings->Control Panel->Wireless Network" 
        or via the Client Manager. 
        Make the settings according to your wireless network infrastructure.

3.3 Removing the Software

    -   Go to "Start->Settings->Control Panel" and open the folder "Remove Programs" 
    -   Select the "Alvarion Wireless Driver" and remove it.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
