The drivers for the 5634BTS consist of only two INF files;  mdmacht.inf and tiwave.inf, no exe files. 

The 5634BTS is a hardware modem, so the drivers are the same for all Windows operating systems.  The driver work in Windows95/98/NT/2000/XP.


For Linux:
The 5634BTS ISA model is a hardware modem that can be jumpered to specific com ports and IRQ's.
With the modem jumper set up to Com 2 IRQ 3 make sure that the Serial port is disabled in the BIOS. 
Go to the "K" menu and then click on [Internet]. From here click on [KPPP]. In [KPPP], click on the [SETUP] button. In the [KPPP] configuration window select the Devices  tab. In here you will choose /dev/cau1 for Com 2 or ttys2 . Next click on the MODEM tab and [query modem]. When the modem ATI responses display, you will know that the modem is installed. 


Windows95/98/ME:

For plug and play: remove all the jumpers.


For legacy installation:

When installing a new modem under Windows 95/98/ME please follow this procedure:

Set the modem's jumpers for the Communications Port and IRQ you wish to use.

Note:  If you will be installing your modem using COM 2 IRQ 3 you must make sure that COM 2 is disabled on your motherboard BIOS, this way there are not any conflicts with existing hardware.

Once the modem is physically installed turn on the computer and let Windows boot up completely.
 
Click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel"

Double click on the "Add New Hardware" icon and follow the system prompts so that Windows will try to automatically detect your hardware.  If the modem is setup properly and is functioning you will see a "Details" button that can be clicked.  There you will see displayed the Windows has found "Communications Port".

Click "Finished"

Double click on the "Modems" icon

You will be prompted if you would like Windows to detect your modem.

Place a check in the box next to "Don't let Windows detect my modem I will choose it from a list"  then click "Next"

Place the driver Diskette or CD in the drive and click "Have Disk"

Direct Windows to your Diskette or CD where the drivers are located and then select the proper modem.

Follow the system prompts to complete the installation and your modem should install successfully.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
