Welcome to Type270 TWAIN Driver.
This document file contains information about 32 bit TWAIN driver. 
Please refer to this document when you use the driver.

Limitation and Warning.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

* This driver is not available under Windows3.1.

* Duplex scanning is available only under the application 
  that supports the continue scanning.
  When you use the application which does not support the continue scanning,
  even if you select "Duplex", only one front page will be scanned.

* It is necessary to install STI driver under Windows98.
  -- When you use the SCSI to connect to the scanner.
 
* If the STI driver has been installed already under Windows98, select the
  scanner device from:
  My computer/ property / device manager, and renew the driver on property.

* Even if ADF duplex scanning is selected, only the front page is scanned as
  Preview image.

* Stamp feature is not available, when scanning from the platen glass.
  -- The Stamp feature is available only on the scanner that has an endorser
  unit.

* The error message and the driver dialog sometimes appear behind the window 
  and you can not handle the application or the dialog. 
  In this case, select the "Type270 TWAIN Driver Ver.2" on the task bar or
  press Alt+Tab key to call the dialog or message.

* When you run Windows95 connecting with the scanner, 
  "New Hardware Found" dialog which device name is "Unknown Device" appears.
  In that case, select "Do not install a driver (Windows will not prompt you
  again)" and press "OK" button.
  And then, "New Hardware Found" dialog will not appear at next start-up.
  -- When you use the SCSI to connect to the scanner.

* Under  Caere Corp. OmniPage, scanning with Gray Scale in Colors/Gradations
  setting sometimes causes PC hung up.

* Sometimes the application error occurs when you scan a large quantity of pages
  in the attached "RICOH Scan 32 Ver2".
  When you scan a large quantity of pages, select "Save to File".

* Under Windows 95/98, three "Endorser" settings are available. (No,1 to No.3)
  Under Windows Nt3.51/4.0/Windows2000, five "Endorser" settings are available. 
  (No.1 to No.5)

* This driver does not support "Imaging", that is an accessory for Windows 95.

* If the scanned image has uneven density when scanning the original that is
  uniform in density, remove the check of "Erase Background" feature in "More"
  dialog.

* When scanning continuously on Office2000, Deskew should be set to Off.

* When scanning on Office2000, "Custom Insert" button should be selected.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
