HASP HL Windows device driver protection sample

Operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003


Compiling driver and sample
---------------------------

The sample is located in the driver subdirectory.
To compile the driver and the sample,  use the makefile with either
the nmake or gmake command.


Running sample
--------------

Before activating the sample, ensure that the sample and the driver
are located in the same directory on a local hard drive.
To run the sample, simply activate it.


Sample operational overview
---------------------------

1. The sample application initiates a packet.
2. The packet is sent to the driver.
3. Driver receives the packet.
4. Driver executes the compiled in hasp_demo code.
5. The output of the hasp_demo code is returned to the sample
   application.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
