   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to install  Windows 98, ME driver
   for Realtek RTL8029 PCI ethernet adapter.

   Location of Driver:     \WIN98_ME\RTL8029.SYS

   Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows 98, ME :
   -----------------------------------------------------
      Before you start with the installation process, make sure that your
      adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot.
      Executing Windows 98 or ME, it will auto-detect your system
      configuration and find the adapter hardware.
      (If Win98 or WinME does not  prompt that it detects the PCI Ethernet
      adapter,there must be something wrong with the RTL8029 Ethernet
      adapter or your system enviroment.)

   Update the driver from driver disk :
   ------------------------------------
      1. Activate the "Control Panel" from the "Settings" of "Start"
         menu.
      2. Double click the "System" in "Control Panel".
      3. Choose the "Device Manager" from "System Properties" menu.
      4. Double click the "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and Compatibles"
         from "Network Adapters".
      5. Choose "Driver" in "Realtek RTL8029 Ethernet Adapter and
         Compatibles Properties"
      6. Click the "Update Driver.." button.
      7. Select the "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific
         location, ....." option.
      8. Click "Have Disk", then insert driver disk into drive A: and
         type A:\Win98_ME in the "Install From Disk" menu.
      9. Follow the update device driver wizard menus to update the
         driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
