First Time Installation From The Install Menu:
==============================================
  1. Start the NetWare Server.
        > CD \NWSERVER
        > SERVER
  
  2. Execute "LOAD NWCONFIG" after booting up. Type:
        LOAD NWCONFIG
  
  3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
     -> "Select a driver".
  
  4. Press <Insert> key to install an unlisted driver.
  
  5. Please insert driver diskette into floppy disk drive.
  
  6. Press <F3> to specify a different <PATH>. <PATH> is directory
     which includes both A1K.LAN and A1K.LDI.
        Ex. "A:\NETWARE"
  
  7. Select "A1K.LAN ...".
  
  8. Choose the "Select/Modify driver parameters and protocols" selection
     and move the cursor to the A1K_1 parameters window to change the
     slot number.
  
     A slot number must be entered before the installation can proceed.
     You can make the slot number 1. Even though the slot number may not be
     correct, the A1K.LAN driver automatically find the
     ALTIMA Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and load the proper slot number.
  
     You do not have to enter any value for the "Line Speed" or the
     "Node Address". The driver can use the default value for these.
  
  9. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring adapter
     setting.
  
 10. NetWare server will loading/binding driver automatically.
  
 11. After the driver has been loaded, check whether all the frame types
     you want are specified for this driver in AUTOEXEC.NCF.
  
  
The Other Time Installation From The Install Menu:
==================================================
   1. Start the NetWare Server.
         > CD \NWSERVER
         > SERVER

   2. Execute "LOAD NWCONFIG" after booting up. Type:
         LOAD NWCONFIG

   3. Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
      -> "Select a driver".

   4. Select "A1K.LAN ..." in Select a driver window.

   5. Choose the "Select/Modify driver parameters and protocols" selection
      and move the cursor to the parameters window to change the
      slot number.

      A slot number must be entered before the installation can proceed.
      You can make the slot number 1. Even though the slot number may not be
      correct, the A1K.LAN driver automatically find the
      ALTIMA Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and load the proper slot number.

      You do not have to enter any value for the "Line Speed" or the
      "Node Address". The driver can use the default value for these.

   6. Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring adapter
      setting.

   7. NetWare server will loading/binding driver automatically.

   8. After the driver has been loaded, check whether all the frame types
      you want are specified for this driver in AUTOEXEC.NCF.


Modifying An Existing NetWare 5.0 Server:
=========================================
  1. Please insert driver disk into floppy drive/CD-ROM drive.
  
  2. Copy all provided LAN files into your dos directory which
     includes SERVER.EXE.
        Ex. >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\A1K.LAN C:\NWSERVER
            >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\A1K.LDI C:\NWSERVER
  
  3. Start the NetWare Server.
        > CD \NWSERVER
        > SERVER
  
  4. From the Novell Server side, execute "LOAD NWCONFIG". Type:
        LOAD NWCONFIG
  
  5. Select <NCF files Options>.
     Select <Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file>.
  
  6. Add the following commands into the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file.
  
        Search Add C:\NWSERVER
  
        LOAD A1K.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 Autosense NAME=A1K_1_E83
        BIND IPX A1K_1_E83 NET=1111
  
        LOAD A1K.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 Autosense NAME=A1K_1_E82
        BIND IPX A1K_1_E82 NET=1113
  
        LOAD A1K.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_II Autosense NAME=A1K_1_EII
        BIND IPX A1K_1_EII NET=1115
  
        LOAD A1K.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP Autosense NAME=A1K_1_ESP
        BIND IPX A1K_1_ESP NET=1117
  
  7. Restart the server again.
  
Parameters Setting:
===================
  SLOT    - Forces the driver to search for the specified board
            (1 is First Board).
  
  AUTO    - Automatic Detection. (Default)
  
  10HD    - Force the driver to 10 Mbs Half Duplex mode.
  
  10FD    - Force the driver to 10 Mbs Full Duplex mode.
  
  100HD   - Force the driver to 100 Mbs Half Duplex mode.
  
  100FD   - Force the driver to 100 Mbs Full Duplex mode.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
