Overview

This is the basic Gateway OEM Windows XP driver for the Creative Labs Audio PCI 64D and 128D Digital Sound Card (1373 chipset).


Installation

1.  Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2.  If you have not already done so, locate and double-click the 7512183.exe file that you downloaded from the Internet.  This file should be located on your desktop.  Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7512183 folder.

3.  From the Start menu, click Run.

4.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7512183\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

5.  In the SBSetup dialog box, select Install software, and then click Next.

6.  Files copy.  When complete, click Finish.

7.  Close all open windows, and then restart the computer.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7512183\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the SBSetup dialog box, select Remove only, and then click Next.

4.  Files copy.  When complete, click Finish.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after driver installation, perform these troubleshooting steps.

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.

2. Verify that the system is set to analog or digital depending on the speakers you have by following this procedure:

 a.  On the Start menu, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, and then click Volume Control. 
 b.  In the Volume Control window, below the Play Control Volume slider, click Advanced. 

Note: If the Advanced option is not below the Play Control Volume slider, on the Options menu, click Advanced Controls. 

 c.  In the Advanced Options for Play Control dialog box, digital output is enabled if the Digital Output Only check box is selected. If the check box is clear, analog output is enabled. 
 d.  Select or clear the Digital Output Only check box for the type of output that you want to use, and then click Close. 

3.  Verify that the sound card is fully seated in the PCI expansion slot.

4.  Manually reinstall the driver using the following steps:

 a.  If you have not already done so, locate and double-click the 7512183.exe file that you originally downloaded from the Internet.  Files are extracted to the C:\cabs\7512183 folder.
 b.  Close all open programs.
 c.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
 d.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon.
 e.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon.
 f.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.
 g.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
 h. In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
 i.  Double-click Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM). 
 j.  In the Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
 k.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
 l.  Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, and then click Next.
 m.  Click Have Disk.
 n.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7512183\WDM.  Click OK.
 o.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) is listed.  Click Next.
 p.  Click Finish.
 q.  Close the Creative AudioPCI (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM) or Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128D (WDM) Properties dialog box, and then click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.


Reason for Update

This is the latest Gateway-supported basic driver for the Creative Labs Audio PCI 64D and 128D Digital Sound Card (1373 chipset).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
