INTRODUCTION This file contains the instructions necessary for installing the Compaq Drive Array Driver using the Compaq component installer. 2. MANUAL DRIVER INSTALLATION To update the Compaq Drive Array Driver manually instead of installing the component package, follow these steps: 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on as an administrator. 2. From the Start menu, point to Programs and select Administrative Tools. 3. Click Computer Management. 4. Expand Systems Tools by clicking the + sign. 5. Click Device Manager. 6. Expand SCSI and RAID Controllers by clicking the + sign. 7. Double-click the adapter entry that contains Compaq Drive Array to display the Properties page. 8. Select the Driver tab. 9. Click Update Driver to invoke the Update Device Driver Wizard and click Next at the introduction screen. 10. Check Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended) and select Next. 11. Check the box next to Specify a location. Clear the boxes next to Floppy disk drives and CD-ROM drives, then click Next. Click Browse and search for the location where you previously copied the CPQARRAY folder. 12. Double-click the CPQARRAY folder and select CPQARRAY. Click Open and click OK to confirm the driver. The Driver File Search Results screen displays. 13. If the path to the driver that you specified in step 12 is displayed, click Next and proceed to step 16. Otherwise, proceed to step 14. 14. Check the box next to Install one of the other drivers and click Next. 15. Choose the entry that displays Compaq as the Provider and Manufacturer when selected, then click Next. 16. Click Yes on the Digital Signatures Not Found screen, then click Yes on the Confirm File Replace screen. 17. Click Finish after the driver is copied to the hard drive. 18. Repeat steps 7-16 for each Compaq array controller entry. 19. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
