******************************************************************** Installation Instructions and Information for NE10/100 ISA Adapter Packet Driver Updated February 1997 ******************************************************************** General Information =================== If your system is not Plug and Play compatible, you must run the CONFIG program before starting operating system setup of the adapter. For more information, type GENERAL.TXT in \GENERAL or view the Plug and Play Notes section of README - General Introduction. CONFIG must be run under DOS. The NE10/100 ISA adapter's packet driver file, NE100I.EXE, is located in the \PACKET directory of the NE10/100 disk. The NE100I packet driver complies to FTP Software's Revision 1.09 packet driver specifications. Command Line Options ======================= The packet driver recognizes the command line options described below. Note that, when multiple NE10/100 ISA adapters are installed in a PC, the -S keyword is required. Otherwise, all keywords are optional. NOTE: For all keywords that require a parameter, you must put a non alphanumeric non dash, non slash (space or '=' or ',' etc) between the keyword and its parameter, and between keywords. The following command lines are valid. NE100I -i=0x61,-t NE100I -i 0x61 -t Keyword(abbreviation) Function of parameter --------------------- --------------------- -HELP (?) Displays the command line usage message. -TERMINATE (T) Terminates and unloads the packet driver at the specified or default interrupt number. (see the -i keyword for further information). -FILENAME (f) path\filename Selects a "keyword file" for further processing. The full path and filename must be specified. No default filename or path. -INTERRUPT (i) 0xhh Selects the software interrupt number at which the packet driver will be installed or terminated. Packet Driver clients execute an "int 0xnn" to communicate with the driver. "hh" is a hexidecimal number from 0x60 through 0x7F. The default parameter is 0x60. -MEDIATYPE (m) AUTO Selects the characterists at which the adapter HALF10 will attempt to connect to the LAN. The 10FULL FULL10 or 100FULL keywords should be used on full HALF100 duplex LANS when media type is not correctly FULL100 detected(some HUBS and SWITCHES allow either half or full duplex connections). The default parameter is AUTO. -SERIAL (s) 0xhhhhhh Selects which adapter (when more than one adapter exists). "hhhhhh" is the last 6 digits of the IEEE address assigned to the adapter. The number can be obtained from the CONFIG program, or from the MAC = sticker on the adapter. -USE32BITIO (u) NO Selects whether 32 bit I/O instructions are YES used for the transfer of data from the adapter to memory. Some machines garble data when 32 bit i/o is performed. The default is NO. -LINKINTEGRITY (l) ON Selects whether valid link information is OFF transmitted by the adapter. Some older hubs do not support the transmission of valid link information. The default parameter is ON. Command Line Examples ---------------------- NE100I Will load the packet driver using all default values. Equivalent to NE100I i=0x60,-M=AUTO,-U=NO,-L=ON. NE100I -t Will terminate the packet driver at Software Interrupt Number 0x60. Equivilent to NE100I -i=0x60,-t. NE100I -f=C:\packet\pkt_drvr.ini Will load the packet driver using the keywords and values specified in the keyword file "C:\packet\pkt_drvr.ini". Note: To view the available keyword values supported by the NE10/100 ISA adapter, go back to the main menu of README and select Keywords or type the KEYWORDS.TXT file in the GENERAL directory.Download Driver Pack
