***************************************************************** Microsoft Windows For Workgroups Installation Notes for the Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter Updated February 1997 ***************************************************************** If your system is not Plug and Play compatible, you must run the CONFIG program before starting operating system setup of the adapter. For more information, type GENERAL.TXT in \GENERAL or view the Plug and Play Notes section of README - General Introduction. CONFIG must be run under DOS. Driver Install During Installation/ Upgrade of Windows for Workgroups ===================================================================== To install the driver during installation of the Windows for Workgroups Operating system or when upgrading to Windows for Workgroups from Windows, use the follow instructions: 1. Follow the procedure outlined in the Microsoft Windows For Workgroups Manual for starting Setup. 2. When Setup displays the Network Setup Screen, select: Advanced, then: Drivers. Choose: Add Adapter. Select:Unlisted or updated Network Adapter. Press ENTER or click OK. 3. Setup will prompt you to: Insert unlisted, updated, or vendor-provided network driver disk in:. Insert the Microdyne NE10/100 ISA disk. Change the default path to drive:\WINDOWS.WFW. Drive = either A or B. 4. Setup will display: Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter and selections for driver type. Choose the driver(s) appropriate to your networking needs and Press ENTER twice. Press ENTER again or click on CONTINUE at the Network Setup screen. 5. When prompted for the disk containing the new PROTMAN.DOS, insert Windows For Workgroups Disk #8 into the drive and press ENTER or Click OK. 6. Setup will then prompt you to insert the disk with the updated or vendor-provided driver. Place the Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter disk into the and press ENTER or click OK. 7. Insert Windows For Workgroups Disk #8 into drive A and press ENTER or click OK. 9. The NE10/100 ISA installation is complete. Follow the instructions displayed by Setup to complete your Windows For Workgroups installation. Driver Installation With Windows for Workgroups Already Installed ==================================================================== If you are re-installing a NE10/100 ISA adapter run the INFCHK program. The program will remove old references to the NE10/100 ISA adapter. INFCHK is in the subdirectory WINDOWS.WFW. 1. Click on the Network icon in Program Manager. Select: Network Setup. If you have a network installed other than Windows For Workgroups, i.e. Novell Netware, LAN Manager, etc., you must remove the network option first before Windows will allow you to remove the driver. Choose Networks from the Network Settings screen and remove the network. Select: Drivers. When the next screen appears, select: REMOVE" to remove the currently installed driver. 2. Select: ADD Adapter. 3. When Setup prompts you to select a new network adapter, choose: Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter. Press ENTER or click OK. 4. Setup will prompt you to: Insert unlisted, updated, or vendor-provided network driver disk in:. Insert the NE10/100 ISA Adapter disk. Change the default path to drive:\WINDOWS.WFW. Drive = A or B. 7. Setup will display the network adapter to be installed, select: Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter and the appropriate driver. Press ENTER or Click OK. 8. Choose CLOSE to save the new configuration. 9. Choose NETWORKS and re-enable the network you are using. 10. When asked if you want to install new network drivers to replace the ones currently installed, select NO. Press ENTER or click OK. 11. Press ENTER or click OK. 12. Choose: RESTART COMPUTER. This will allow Windows to save your information before rebooting the system. A system reboot is needed to allow the new drivers to load. Note: To view the available keyword values supported by the NE10/100 adapter, go back to the main menu in README and select Keywords or type the KEYWORDS.TXT file in the GENERAL directory.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
