********************************************************************* Banyan Vines Client NDIS 2.0.1 Driver for the Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter Updated February 1997 ********************************************************************* If your system is not Plug and Play compatible, you must run the CONFIG program before starting operating system setup of the adapter. For more information, type GENERAL.TXT in \GENERAL or view the Plug and Play Notes section of README - General Introduction. CONFIG must be run under DOS. Installation Instructions ============================ 1. Create a subdirectory called VINES on your hard disk. 2. Change to the VINES subdirectory. 3. Insert the VINES INSTALL Disk into drive A or B. 4. Type: COPY drive:*.* and press ENTER. drive = The floppy drive which contains the VINES Disk (A or B). 5. Insert the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 OF 2 Disk into the drive. 6. Type: Copy drive:\NDIS\*.* and press ENTER. drive = The floppy drive which contains the VINES Disk, A or B. 7. Insert the Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter Disk into the drive. 8. Type: COPY drive:\MSCLIENT\*.* and press ENTER. This will copy the NE100I.DOS file to your VINES subdirectory. 9. Run Banyan's PCCONFIG.EXE program and configure the Banyan software to connect to the NDIS driver being used. -Select option 1 in PCCONFIG. -Page down the list and select NDIS ETHERNET. -Set the proper interrupt value. This value should correspond with the interrupt that the NIC was configured to. -Type NE100I as the section header name of the NDIS driver. -Press F10 to save the configuration. Press ESC to return to the main menu. -Select option 2, LOGIN ENVIRONMENT SETTINGS. -Select option 1, SELECT DEFAULT COMMUNICATIONS DRIVER. -Page down the list and select NDIS ETHERNET. -Press ESC to return to the main menu. -Press F10 to save your configuration and exit. 10. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI and add the header name as shown below. 11. Edit the CONFIG.SYS and add the lines listed below. 12. Reboot the machine. 13. Change to the VINES subdirectory and run the BAN.EXE command. Be sure you are attached to the same network as a VINES server. 14. The Banyan login prompt should come up signifying a successful connection has been established. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
