MS Client 3.0 Installation Notes for 
Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter

If your system is not Plug and Play compatible, you must run the 
CONFIG program before starting operating system setup of 
the adapter. For more information, type GENERAL.TXT in \GENERAL
or view the Plug and Play Notes section of README - General
Introduction. CONFIG must be run under DOS.

Installing the NE10/100 ISA with MS Client 3.0 Installed
==========================================================

If you are re-installing a NE10/100 ISA adapter run the INFCHK
program. The program will remove old references to the NE10/100 ISA
adapter. INFCHK is in the subdirectory MSCLIENT.  
         
1. Change to the existing MS Client directory (The default is C:\NET).

2. Type Setup <Enter>.

3. Select the Change Network Configuration option in the list.

4. Select the Add Adapter option from the Options box.

5. From the Select Adapter screen, select:
    Network adapter not shown in list below ...

6. Insert the NE10/100 ISA driver disk in A (or B).  Enter:
    A:\MSCLIENT 

7. Hit <Enter> when "Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter" appears. 

8. Enter your user name.

9. Change or configure your network or adapter setting if necessary. 
If you are unsure of the correct settings, contact your network 
administrator. The adapter settings should be correct for your
configuration. 

10. Hit <Enter> when options are correct.

NE10/100 Install without MS Client 3.0 Installed
=================================================

1. Prepare the MS Client 3.0 disks from NT 3.51 or 4.0 CD (2 disks)
See details in the Windows NT documentation.

2. Run Setup from Disk 1 of MS Client 3.0. 

3. Enter CR to start the installation

4. Enter a directory name for MS Client, or accept the default of
C:\NET

5. From the Select Adapter screen, select:

    Network adapter not shown in list below ...

Note: If you already have an adapter installed, select Add Adapter
first.

6. Insert the NE10/100 ISA driver disk in A (or B).  Enter:

    A:\MSCLIENT 

7. Hit <Enter> when "Microdyne NE10/100 ISA Adapter" appears. 

8. Enter your user name.

9. Change or configure your network or adapter setting if necessary. 
If you are unsure of the correct settings, contact your network 
administrator. The adapter settings should be correct for your
configuration. 

10. Hit <Enter> when options are correct.

11. Insert MS Client Disk when prompted.

12. Insert the NE10/100 ISA Driver Disk and enter
drive:\MSCLIENT path when prompted. Drive = A or B.

13. Follow the remaining prompts to complete MS Client installation.

Configuring Keywords for the 10/100 ISA Adapter and Driver
============================================================

Note: To view the available keywords supported by the Microdyne
NE10/100 ISA Adapter, go back to the main menu of README and select
Keywords or type the KEYWORDS.TXT file in the GENERAL directory.

1. Change to the existing MS Client directory (default is C:\NET)

2. Run Setup

3. Select the Change Network Configuration option in the list.

4. Highlight the NE10/100 ISA adapter to be configured.

5. Select the Change Settings options.

6. You will see a list of the keywords used by the driver and the
adapter with their default values:

    Drivername=NE100I$ 
    SerialNumber=#0
    MediaType=AUTO
    RxEarly=OFF
    Use32BitIO=NO

Select the keyword you want to change (Don't change the Drivername). 

9. After changing the keyword, select the "List Options Are Correct"
to return to previous screen.

10. Select Network Configuration Is Correct option to the previous
screen.

11. Select the List Options Are Correct to finish the configuration.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
