Installation for Windows NT Client
************************************************************************

This readme file will provide you with informations to install the
Ethernet LAN Card to the following Operating System:

A) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 3.5
B) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 3.51
C) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 4.0

(A) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 3.5
--------------------------------------------------
NTECARD.SYS: Ethernet LAN Card Enabler for Windows NT Client Version 3.5

Tested on - Intel 365 PCMCIA Controller
	  - NT Version 3.5 Build 807
	  - EISA bus with PCMCIA ISA card
	  - IBM ThinkPad 755C
	  - Vadem controller

By default, card will be configured on
	- IO Base 0x300
	- IRQ 5
	- Memory used C800:0000 (0xC8000)
	- Socket 0

To alter these 4 parameters, see instructions below.

Installation Procedures
-----------------------
1) Copy the NTECARD.SYS driver to your

	C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\

 directory.

2) Run REGEDT32.EXE from the SYSTEM32 directory.
3) Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES key.
4) Make a new sub-key (under services with the "Edit" then "Add Key".
5) Call the Key Name "NTECARD".
6) Make the Class "1" for SERVICE_KERNEL_DRIVER type.
7) Under the new "NTECARD" Key add the following Values:

(This is done by "Edit" then "Add Value..." and select "REG_xx"
 for each value)

	a) ErrorControl:REG_DWORD:0x1
	b) Group:REG_SZ:Base
	c) Start:REG_DWORD:0x1
	d) Type:REG_DWORD:0x1

8) Then go to the control panel and install the NE2000 network driver on
IO Base 0x300, IRQ 5 and Restart your machine.

9) Changing Parameters

This section will show you how to change from the default parameters.
i) Go to the NTECARD key in the registry as created in step 4. i.e. at

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\NTECARD.

ii) Highlight the NTECARD key and add a new key. To do this go to "Edit"
    and chose "Add Key".

iii) Set the new "Key Name" to "Parameters", and specify the "Class" as "1".

iv) Select the new "Parameters" key and then add the following values (as in
    step (7) above).

	a) MemoryAddress:REG_DWORD:0xC8000
	b) IOAddress:REG_DWORD:0x300
	c) IRQ:REG_DWORD:0x5
	d) CardSocket:REG_DWORD:0x0

You may specify any of the following values for each "Parameters" value:

	a) MemoryAddress:REG_DWORD:0xC8000
				   0xCC000
				   0xD0000
				   0xD4000
				   0xD8000
				   0xE0000

Tip: If you use ECARD for DOS use, follow the ECARD MEM setting (default
is D800). This corresponds to 0xD8000 in Windows NT.

	b) IOAddress:REG_DWORD:0x300
			       0x320
			       0x340
			       0x360

	c) IRQ:REG_DWORD:0x5
			 0x3
			 0x9
			 0x10
			 0x12
			 0x15

	d) CardSocket:REG_DWORD:0x0
				0x1

After changing the settings for IOAddress and IRQ you will need to amend
your NE2000 driver configuration in the Control Panel with the same settings.

(B) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 3.51
---------------------------------------------------
Windows NT Version 3.51 did not include support for PCMCIA card and socket
services, only certain modem cards, SCSI controller cards, hard disk cards

       ......\Pcmcia\Database\PCMCIA\Ethernet 10BaseT Card
and Repeat step (13) to (14)

(11) Exit Registry Editor

(12) Reboot Windows NT with the PCMCIA Ethernet LAN Card inserted.

Setup Network Adapter
---------------------
(1) Open the Control Panel, and choose Start Network Setup by double
     clicking the Network ICON.

     Click OK.

(5) On the [Bus Type] window, select PCMCIA as the Bus-Type and click OK.
If this window does not appear for your version of NT, follows the next
     set of instructions.

(C) Installation for Windows NT Client Version 4.0
--------------------------------------------------
Windows NT Version 4.0 did not include support for Plug-n-Play for PC card,
only certain modem cards, SCSI controller cards, hard disk cards and network
adapter cards are supported.

For any supported PC cards, the computer needs to be turn off before removing
or inserting PC cards. The adapter will not work if you insert the PC card
while Windows NT is up and running.

The instruction provided below will guide you through the installation:

(1) Log off your Windows NT and turn off your computer.

(2) Insert the PCMCIA Ethernet LAN Card into an available PCMCIA socket.

(3) Turn on your computer and log in to Windows NT.

(4) Go to the Control Panel by clicking on [Start] and select 'Settings'
     follow by 'Control Panel'.

(5) Under the Control Panel window, double click on 'Network'.

(6) A "Network Setup Wizard" window will pops-up if this is the first time
you install Networking in Windows NT. Select 'Wired to the network',
and click on the [NEXT] button. In the process of setting up the network,
you will need the Windows NT Diskettes or CDROM to proceed with
installation. If this is not your first time, you should select the
"Adapters" folder and click on the [Add] button to add a new network
adapter and continue from step (8).

(7) The next step, wizard will prompt you to select Network Adapters.
     Click on [Select from list].

(8) A "Select Network Adapter" window will pops-up. Click on [Have Disk].

(9) Insert the Ethernet LAN Configuration Diskette into your floppy drive.

(10) At the prompt of the "Insert Disk" window, type
	A:\WINNT <enter or click [OK]>

(11) Under the "Select OEM Option" window, select the product you purchase,
either 10baseT or the Combo (10BaseT/2).

(12) You will then return to the "Network Setup Wizard" window. Click on
     [Next].

(13) Now follow the instruction in the Wizard to continue installation for
the network protocol you required. During the process you will be prompt
to select an available IRQ and IO. Depending on your system
configuration, most system will have IRQ 9 or 10 and IO 300 or 320
available. Refer to your notebook/computer's reference manual for
     details.

DO THIS ONLY
------------
If the Ethernet LAN card was not found after the above procedures.
The following steps will guide you in resolving any IRQ or IO conflicts

(1) Log off your Windows NT and turn off your computer.

(2) Insert the PCMCIA Ethernet LAN Card into an available PCMCIA socket.

(3) Turn on your computer and log in to Windows NT.

(4) Go to the Control Panel by clicking on [Start] and select 'Settings'
     follow by 'Control Panel'.

(5) Under the Control Panel window, double click on 'Network'.

(6) Under the "Network" window select the 'Adapters' folder.

(7) If there is a IRQ or IO conflict, you should see a "Cross-Out" on
the Network Adapter Icon of the Ethernet LAN card listing. If you do
not see the "Cross-out", then Windows NT did configure the card properly.
You should then check problems on your network protocol setting or
     your network connection.

(8) Select the Adapter and click on [Properties].

(9) Change the IRQ or I/O then click [OK] and reboot Windows NT.
