* Banyan Vines DOS Workstation (Version 4.0+)
******************************************************************************

1. Create a Banyan subdirectory on your workstation hard disk. For example:

    C:> MD \VINES

2. Copy the files NE2NDIS.DOS and PROTOCOL.INI from the \NDIS subdirectory
    on your Drivers Diskette to the \VINES subdirectory just created.

3. Copy the files from the VINES Master diskette into the \VINES
    subdirectory.

4. Copy the NDIS driver files from \NDIS subdirectory on the VINES LAN
    Drivers diskette into the \VINES subdirectory.

5. Using a text editor, edit the CONFIG.SYS file to include the following
    lines. (If your CONFIG.SYS contains any PCMCIA drivers and enablers,
    these lines must come after them.)

	DEVICE = C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES
        DEVICE = C:\VINES\C1SC.EXE /I=x /C=nn /M=mm /S=x
						;refer to readme.txt
	DEVICE = C:\VINES\NE2NDIS.DOS

6. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to read as follows:

     [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
      DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$

     [VINES_XIF]
      DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$
      BINDINGS = GSC2000_XIF

     [GCS2000_XIF]
      DRIVERNAME = NE2000$

7.  Type PCCONFIG.

8. From the menu select Network Card Settings. Select NDIS as the default
    network driver and configure the NDIS driver as follows:

		      Interrupt Level (2-15) :  3
		      IO Address : 0x300
		      PROTOCOL.INI bindings =   GSC2000_NIF

9. Press F10 to save and ESC to return to the main menu.

10. Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file with the additional lines:

	CD \VINES
	BAN /NC
	NDISBAN
	REDIRALL
	Z:LOGIN admin@eng@testing

11. Make sure the PROTOCOL.INI file created contains the same IOBASE, and
    INTERRUPT numbers as specified by C1SC.

12. Reboot the PC.

Notes
=====

A: If you are using an extended memory manager and the C1SC enabler,
    you may need to explicitly exclude memory area D800-D8FF, or other
    4 Kbyte memory space defined by the /MEM parameter.

B. If you are using a driver other than NE2NDIS, check your PROTOCOL.INI
    to see that the Drivername is correct.

C. The above will work satisfactorily for VINES revision 5.50(1) and above.
    For earlier VINES versions it is necessary to "Patch" the server for
    NDIS 2.10 support.

    Patches for VINES are as follows

	VINES 4.11(5)    Patch  5005-EA-1
	VINES 5.00(5)    Patch  4115-FW-1

    Patches are available to Authorised Resellers through their support
    channel.
