DESCRIPTION:
For Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and ME users, softpaq SP20813 will copy the
Compaq Monitor INF file "Cpq_mon.inf" and all of the ICM color profiles
for the above supported monitors into the appropriate Microsoft Windows folders.

For Microsoft Windows 2000, SP20813 will present a list of the following monitors for the user to select in order to properly install their digital signature files:
710T, 910T, CV535, CV735, CV935, FS740, MV540, MV740, MV940 and the FP745A flat panel monitor.

For Microsoft Windows XP, SP20813 will present a list of the following monitors for the user to select in order to properly install their digital signature files: i560

Only one monitor from the above lists can be selected at a time in order to install the digital signature properly into Microsoft Windows.
If your monitor is not listed above, then a Windows 2000 and XP specific INF "Cpq_mon2k.inf" will be copied to the appropriate Windows folder in order to provide support for all of the other non-digitally signed Compaq monitors.

The INF file designates software and defines monitor resources used by Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP to ensure monitor compatibility with your computer's graphics adapter.

The ICM color profile is used in conjunction with graphics programs to provide color matching consistency from monitor screen to printer.
The ICM profile is not operating system specific and is activated from within graphics software programs that have this feature.
The ICM color profile is written in accordance with the International Color Consortium (ICC) Profile Format Specification.

MICROSOFT WINDOWS NT 4.0 INF AND ICM INSTALLATION NOTES:
This softpaq will install the INF and ICM files on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
systems, but Windows NT 4.0 does not currently use the monitor INF file.
Display Resolutions in Windows NT are controlled by the computer's graphics adapter.
There is no Monitor selection unless the graphics adapter includes this
option with its own proprietary video drivers (which do not ship with Windows).
The ICM color profile file can be used within Windows NT and is activated
from within the graphics programs that have this feature.

PLUG AND PLAY COMPATIBILITY:
All of the above supported COMPAQ monitors are Windows Plug and Play compatible.
These monitors will work correctly without the INF file being installed.
With the monitors attached, and without the INF file installed, Microsoft
Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP will recognize your COMPAQ monitor as a
"Plug and Play Monitor." The correct resolutions will still be available
in the Windows Display control panel.
Note that COMPAQ monitor Plug and Play compatibility is dependent on several items:
    a) The computer's graphics card must be VESA DDC2B compliant.
    b) The monitor must be connected directly to the graphics card.
Plug and Play does not work through the separate BNC type
        connectors nor through distribution buffers/boxes.

UNINSTALLATION:
Uninstalling this softpaq can be achieved through the Microsoft Windows "Add/Remove Programs"
Control Panel. The name for this softpaq in the "Add/Remove Programs" window will be
"Compaq Presario Monitor Driver Software 5.00".
