GARMIN GPS 12 Map Software Upgrade Information
Software Version 2.05

------------------------------------------------------------

WARNING:
If this software is uploaded to a GPS unit other than the product for
which it is designed, you will not be able to operate that unit.

If attempts to upload software fail, you may need to return the unit to
    GARMIN for service.

------------------------------------------------------------

Instructions for uploading the new software to your GPS 12 Map using
Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT:

1. Download the appropriate self-extracting zip-file for your GPS 12 Map into
a directory on your hard drive. (i.e., c:\garmin).

2. Unzip the files into this directory by running the downloaded executable
    file (.exe).

3. Connect your GPS 12 Map to a free serial port (Com 1, 2, 3, or 4) on your
PC with a PC Interface cable.

4. Turn on your GPS 12 Map and ensure the Interface format is set to "GARMIN."
You can find this setting in the Main Menu under "Setup."

5. Change to the directory in which you unzipped the files, (i.e., c:\garmin),
and run the update program: updater.exe. Select the appropriate
serial port and click "OK" to begin the software upload. During the
upload, the 12 Map's display will indicate "Software Loading...." The
upload process should take approximately 3-10 minutes to complete. When
the upload process is complete, the unit will reset itself and turn on
    normally.

Changes Made from Versions 2.01 to 2.02

1. Added Nearest Geo Point Search Tab and Setup Page.

NOTE: This is a new tab added to the series of nearest search tabs. The
setup option through the menu of this page allows the search to be
limited by choosing categories to include in the search. Points
from all categories will not be present on all maps.

This search is performed on the best (most detailed) map for the
current position. The search map can be changed from the map at the
current position by moving the pointer to the desired search area and
choosing the MENU -> NEAREST TO PTR selection from the map page.

2. Added additional copyright page to display copyright strings for the basemap
and supplemental maps. (Atlantic Map support)
   - This page also displays the Map Set Name and Date created.

3. Added characters to fonts to display foreign city strings.

4. Added 3 new user waypoint symbols.

5. Improved edge of map detection for supplemental maps. Switches maps when
data stops instead of using rectangular box.

6. Modified DGPS warnings to be friendlier. Only displays warning after
connected to a DGPS unit if in DGPS mode.

7. Corrected long track/route name wrapping.

8. Corrected deleted waypoint handling on goto page.
