README file for building and installing the solaris driver.

Building the driver.
--------------------
1. Copy the HSM sources (hsm.c, hsm.h and dp83820.h) and the NSM sources 
	(nsm.c, nsm.h, nsm.mk) to the build directory.

2. Build the driver using the following command. 
		make -f nsm.mk 

Installing the driver
---------------------
1. Execute drvinst script to copy and add the driver to the system.

Configuring the adapter.
-----------------------
Following are the steps for configuring the adapter.

1. edit /etc/hostname.<interface>
2. edit /etc/hosts
3. edit /etc/netmasks

4. ifconfig <interface> plumb
5. ifconfig <interface> <ip_address>
6. ifconfig <interface> up

Where <interface> will be dp? ( ? to be substituted by the appropriate 
instance #).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
