Power Console Plus Limitations, Bug Fixes, & Enhancements:
=========================================================

LIMITATIONS:
-----------

Random Deletion

SATA 4 and SATA 6 firmware has the ability to perform random deletion of logical drives, through
WebBIOS and/or Power Console Plus.

This feature is present in WebBIOS and Power Console Plus, but is NOT supported by CTRL-M and MEGAMGR.
If you perform random deletion in WebBIOS or Power Console Plus, you will no longer be able to use the
CTRL-M and MEGAMGR utilities. If you do use them after doing a random deletion, you will get this error
message: “ERROR Reading Configuration Press any Key to exit”. You will need to reboot.

If a random deletion is done the limitation will be that you will only be able to use the WebBIOS and/or
Power Console Plus in configuring the logical properties from then on. The CTRL-M or MEGAMGR utilities
only support deleting the last logical drive in the array set to be able to continue using these
utilities.

This is a limitation of the SATA 4 and SATA 6 and performing random deletion.

BUG FIXES:
---------

1. When running check consistency on multiple logical drives by using an external utility like
MegaCtrl.exe, Power Console Plus was showing the progress for only the first logical drive. This
    is fixed.

2. When the battery is present and the battery module is not connected, the write policy in the logical
drive configuration creation wizard’s page was showing “Write Back” when it should be “Write Thru”.
    This was fixed.

3. The "missing battery" message was logged in the Power Console Plus log file for the 520 controllers
even when the battery module and/or pack was not attached to the controller. This was fixed.

4. Power Console Plus was allowing reconstructions to start on a degraded logical drive by dragging and
dropping a ready drive to the logical drive. This was fixed.

5. PCP was allowing reconstruction on a spanned logical drive. This was fixed.

ENHANCEMENTS:
------------

1. Added a mechanism to view check consistency error log.

2. Added a new menu item called Manage Patrol Read feature in the Adapter menu. This feature allows
starting, stopping, and viewing the progress of the patrol read operation. Also, this feature may
change the mode and execution delay of patrol read. Some of the features such as stopping, changing
execution delay are disabled when ran in View-Only access mode.

Monitor Bug Fixes & Enhancements:
================================

BUG FIXES:
---------
NONE

ENHANCEMENTS:
------------
NONE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Component Features & Limitations:
================================

MONITOR FEATURES:
----------------

	-12 MegaRAIDs (SCSI) support
-Supports 8-logical drive supporting firmwares on cards such as 428/434/467/490
-Supports 40-logical drive supporting firmwares on cards such as 471/493/475/518/520
-Monitors and reports change of status of
		Logical Drives
		Physical Drives
		Battery
-Allows running of check consistency on valid logical drives at scheduled time (specifiable thru
         megactrl.exe utility)
-Allows reporting of consistency checking progress at a programmable interval
-Allows monitoring of Predictive Failure of physical drives (SMART polling) since ver 5.09 of
megaserv.exe and ver 5.04 of megactrl.exe(GUI) or higher with this feature ON.
Note: For successful detection of SMART events, service component needs be run on
         LSI generic firmwares(8-ld and/or 40-ld)
-Logs distinctive message for Background Initialization and Consistency checking, if supported by
underlying firmware (that support 0xA4/0x13 command).
IF the firmware does not support 0xA4/0x13 command – megaserv.exe will not be able to distinguish
background Init from consistency checking – it will be reported as consistency checking.
	-MegaCtrl.Exe program allows
                - start/stop/pause/resume of service component
                - allows consistency scheduling
                - S.M.A.R.T polling schedule capabilities
                - stops consistency check operation from running
                - consistency check’s progress reporting frequency decisions

LIMITATIONS:
-----------

For successful detection of SMART events, service component needs be run on LSI generic firmwares
(8-ld and/or 40-ld). The same is true about reporting of physical drive failure history – as there are
some data length difference for some firmware commands for different OEMs.

Installation Bug Fixes & Enhancements:
=====================================

BUG FIXES:
---------

1. After installing Power Console Plus, the REG_SERV & RAIDSERV services did not start automatically after
rebooting the system. Even when trying to start these services manually through windows services
utility, both the REG_SERV & RAIDSERV fail. This was fixed.

ENHANCEMENT:
-----------

1. NobleNet Portmapper was causing an error upon uninstalling Power Console Plus. This was fixed.
