Dear customer,

In this directory:

\OS2
	\DA2000.ADD	- Driver for OS/2 v2.x, v3.0(Warp)
\DA2000.DDP	- Driver profile for driver installation

Create Driver Diskette from CD-ROM
----------------------------------

* If the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 RAID controller is going to be installed in
an existing Windows NT system, the system can read the CD-ROM drive
when installaing the driver, there is no need to create the driver
  diskette from the CD disc.

* If the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 RAID controller is going to be installed as
the system boot device, due to the Windows NT setup program cannot
read driver files from CD-ROM during the installation, it is a must
to create the driver diskette for the Windows NT setup program.

Install the Driver to an Existing OS/2 System
----------------------------------------------

1. Execute the program DDINSTAL by selecting the Device Driver Install
icon within the System Setup folder of OS/2 System folder or by
   typing DDINSTAL at OS/2 prompt.

2. Insert the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 driver diskette in the appropriate
floppy drive and follow the instructions from DDINSTALL. Set the
source directory to a:\os2 and the destination path to the root
directory of system drive while running DDINSTALL.

3. Reboot your system.

Install the Driver During OS/2 Installation
-------------------------------------------

1. Copy PCI2000.ADD from PCI-DA2100/DA2200 Driver diskette
to OS/2 installation diskette #1. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file on OS/2
installation diskette #1 to add the following line to the end of
   CONFIG.SYS:

		BASEDEV=DA2000.ADD /V

2. Follow the steps from IBM for installing OS/2.

** Important **

A. ALWAYS CHANGE THE CACHE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED BEFORE INSTALLING
   OPERATING SYSTEMS AND PARTITIONING.

PCI-DA2100/DA2200 is a high performance PCI RAID controller
with Write-Back cache enabled. During the installation of
some operating systems, the installation program might reset
the computer automatically while the cache still contains
data not yet written to the drives. It might cause the
installation or partitioning failure. To avoid the failure,
always switch the cache mode to Write-Back DISABLED (Write-
Through mode) before changing the drive partition (e.g. using
DOS FDISK) and before installing any operating systems.

B. HOW TO CHANGE CACHE MODE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED?

Using BIOS Text RAID Manager (PC platform only) to disable
the Write-Back Cache. Power on the computer, press <CTRL><I>
when the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 information appears. Choose "Configure
RAID" from the menu and press <Enter> to enter a proper
display mode (either ANSI, VT-100 or ANSI Color). In the
Main Menu, choose "View and Edit Configuration Parameters",
then "Caching Parameters". A sub-menu contains "Write Back
Cache Enabled/Disabled" which refers to the Write Back mode
is Enabled or Disabled. Press <ENTER> on it and choose "Yes"
to change it. After the cache mode changed, it is a must to
reset the computer to take affect the new setting.
After the driver partitioning and operating system installed,
using the same procedure to enable the Write Back cache, the
high performance Write Back Caching will bring your system
	into a higher performance level.

Known Issues and Solutions for PCI-DA2000 Series Driver for OS/2

[1] Issue Description :
When You are going to install OS/2 on an IDE disk and:
. an PCI-DA2000 series adapter was installed with at least one LUN map
      exists.
. PCI-DA2000 series device driver was installed on OS/2 Installation
      Diskette #1.
After OS/2 installation is completed, the system will fail to boot up.

 Solution 1:
Keep all the procedure of installation, but, after completing
installation, edit the CONFIG.SYS on your system drive (IDE disk) and
    move a line that says:

	BASEDEV=DA2000.ADD /V

from the head of config.sys to the end of config.sys.

 Solution 2:
Before installation, do not install PCI-DA2000 series driver on OS/2
Installation Diskette #1. After OS/2 system is installed, then add
PCI-DA2000 series driver into this system.

How to Configure RAID in OS/2
-----------------------------

There is no Text RAID Manager available for OS/2. To configure RAID, please
use the Text RAID Manager in BIOS (by pressing <CTRL> <I> during system power
up).
