Refer to the NetWare Installation manual to start the installation of NetWare 3.1x, and follow the on-screen instructions to install. 2. At the system console prompt, use load command to load the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 driver by typing: ServerName: load da2000.dsk 3. System console will display the following messages on the screen: Loading module DA2000.DSK PCI-DA2000 Disk Driver for NetWare v3.1x Version x.xx November 3, 1995 Auto-loading module RAIDASPI.DSK RAID ASPI Manager for NetWare v3.1x, v4.0x and v4.1 Version x.xx October 27, 1995 Supported Slot values are 11 Slot: 11 The slot number(value) is auto-detected by the driver according to which PCI slot the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 has been plugged into. Write down the slot number for later using in STARTUP.NCF. 4. At this point, press [Enter]. If the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 driver installs successfully, the system console will display the following messages on the screen: PCI Bus # = 0, Device # = 9, Port = E400, IRQ = 10 DA2000 Disk Driver Installed Successfully 5. Load the driver "DA2000.DSK" once for each installed PCI-DA2100/ DA2200. This driver supports up to four PCI-DA2100/DA2200 controllers installed in the same system. 6. After each instance of the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 driver has been loaded successfully, continue with the operations of Novell NetWare server described in NetWare User's Manual. Notes: The correct syntax in STARTUP.NCF file to load the PCI-DA2100/ DA2200 drivers should resemble the the following: # load da2000 slot = x where "x" is the slot number of slot into which the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 has been plugged. The slot number is auto-detected by the driver and shown on the system console screen during the driver loading. Using Text RAID Manager to Configure RAID ----------------------------------------- 1. Boot up the NetWare system. 2. Use "load" command in NetWare to load the Text RAID Manager: ServerName: load a:\raidman\netware\raidman (if using the driver diskette to load) Please follow the Instruction manual of PCI-DA2100/DA2200 for the detail operation of the Text RAID Manager. ** Important ** A. ALWAYS CHANGE THE CACHE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED BEFORE INSTALLING OPERATING SYSTEMS AND PARTITIONING. PCI-DA2100/DA2200 is a high performance PCI RAID controller with Write-Back cache enabled. During the installation of some operating systems, the installation program might reset the computer automatically while the cache still contains data not yet written to the drives. It might cause the installation or partitioning failure. To avoid the failure, always switch the cache mode to Write-Back DISABLED (Write- Through mode) before changing the drive partition (e.g. using DOS FDISK) and before installing any operating systems. B. HOW TO CHANGE CACHE MODE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED? Using BIOS Text RAID Manager (PC platform only) to disable the Write-Back Cache. Power on the computer, press <CTRL><I> when the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 information appears. Choose "Configure RAID" from the menu and press <Enter> to enter a proper display mode (either ANSI, VT-100 or ANSI Color). In the Main Menu, choose "View and Edit Configuration Parameters", then "Caching Parameters". A sub-menu contains "Write Back Cache Enabled/Disabled" which refers to the Write Back mode is Enabled or Disabled. Press <ENTER> on it and choose "Yes" to change it. After the cache mode changed, it is a must to reset the computer to take affect the new setting. After the driver partitioning and operating system installed, using the same procedure to enable the Write Back cache, the high performance Write Back Caching will bring your system into a higher performance level.Download Driver Pack
