Dear customer,
In this directory:
\DOS
ASPICDRM.SYS - DOS ASPI CD-ROM Driver
DA2000.SYS - PCI-DA2000 series DOS ASPI Manager
README.TXT - The file you are reading now.
To use the SCSI CD-ROM connecting to the PCI-DA2100/DA2200
RAID Controller:
-------------------------------------------------------------
To use the SCSI CD-ROM connecting to the PCI-DA2100/DA2200
RAID Controller under DOS, it is a must to load:
. PCI-DA2000 DOS ASPI Manager
. DOS ASPI CD-ROM driver
. MSCDEX.EXE from DOS
1. Loading PCI-DA2000 DOS ASPI Manager and DOS ASPI CD-ROM
driver:
In the root directory of the DOS boot drive, add the
following lines into "CONFIG.SYS":
Device=DA2000.SYS
Device=ASPICDRM.SYS /D: CD001
* Please copy these files into the DOS boot drive from this
CD-ROM. Add complete path in front of the filenames.
2. Loading "MSCDEX.EXE" of DOS":
In the same root directory of the DOS boot drive, add this
line into the "AUTOEXEC.BAT":
MSCDEX.EXE /D:CD001
* The "MSCDEX.EXE" is provided by DOS.
To configure RAID under DOS - Text RAID Manager for DOS:
---------------------------------------------------------
To run the text RAID Manager for DOS, boot up the DOS and
wait for the command prompt, run the "raidman.exe" in this
directory.
C:\> A:
A:\> CD \RAIDMAN\DOS
A:\RAIDMAN\DOS> RAIDMAN
* Where "A:" refer to the drive letter of the floppy
drive.

!! Important Information !!
-----------------------------
1. Using "FDISK" of DOS, the partition made in FDISK disappeard
after the system reboot.
A: Switch the Write-Back Cache to "Disabled" before using FDISK.
The PCI-DA2100/DA2200 RAID Controller is a high performance
PCI RAID controller with Write-back cache enabled. All the data
willing to write into the drives will be queued in the cache
memory first.
The "FDISK" of DOS might reset the computer as soon as it finish
writing the data to the drives. Since the data is still in the
cache memory, reset the computer immediately might lose all the
data in the cache. To resolve this, please use the text RAID
manager to switch the cache mode to "Write back disabled" before
using "FDISK" or install other operating systems. After the "FDISK"
or the operating system installation has done, switch the cache
mode to "write back Enabled" to get higher performance.
2. What is the difference between using DOS Text RAID Manager and
BIOS text RAID Manager?
A: When power on the system, during the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 BIOS
message appears, press <Ctrl> <I> will enter the BIOS setup of
PCI-DA2100/DA2200. Choose "Configure RAID" from menu will
enter a screen similar to the Text RAID Manager. This is so
called BIOS Text RAID Manager, it's only provided in BIOS
1.17B or newer versions.
The difference between the BIOS Text RAID Manager and other Text
RAID Manager is: The BIOS Text RAID Manager cannot download
boot record/firmware/BIOS while the Text RAID Manager in the
other operating systems can.
** Important **
A. ALWAYS CHANGE THE CACHE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED BEFORE INSTALLING
OPERATING SYSTEMS AND PARTITIONING.
PCI-DA2100/DA2200 is a high performance PCI RAID controller
with Write-Back cache enabled. During the installation of
some operating systems, the installation program might reset
the computer automatically while the cache still contains
data not yet written to the drives. It might cause the
installation or partitioning failure. To avoid the failure,
always switch the cache mode to Write-Back DISABLED (Write-
Through mode) before changing the drive partition (e.g. using
DOS FDISK) and before installing any operating systems.
B. HOW TO CHANGE CACHE MODE TO WRITE-BACK DISABLED?
Using BIOS Text RAID Manager (PC platform only) to disable
the Write-Back Cache. Power on the computer, press <CTRL><I>
when the PCI-DA2100/DA2200 information appears. Choose "Configure
RAID" from the menu and press <Enter> to enter a proper
display mode (either ANSI, VT-100 or ANSI Color). In the
Main Menu, choose "View and Edit Configuration Parameters",
then "Caching Parameters". A sub-menu contains "Write Back
Cache Enabled/Disabled" which refers to the Write Back mode
is Enabled or Disabled. Press <ENTER> on it and choose "Yes"
to change it. After the cache mode changed, it is a must to
reset the computer to take affect the new setting.
After the driver partitioning and operating system installed,
using the same procedure to enable the Write Back cache, the
high performance Write Back Caching will bring your system
into a higher performance level.
Download Driver Pack
