This README file contains the following information when installing the CD-ROM player in Windows 95. 1. Setup for Windows 95 1-1. CD-ROM Device drives 1-2. Confirming PC Card(PCMCIA) device 1-3. Install the device driver 2. Supplement 3. Troubleshooting Guide 1. Setup for Windows 95 1-1. CD-ROM Device drivers The supplied Setup Disk contains the following device driver (Miniport driver: QLOMINI.MPD) that work with the supplied Interface Card in Windows 95, and information file(KXL783A.INF). In order to use this device driver, firstly you must setup the 32-bit mode Windows driver for PC Card(PCMCIA) device on Windows 95. 1-2. Confirming the PC Card(PCMCIA) device Make sure whether PC Card(PCMCIA) device in Windows 95 is using the 32-bit mode, according to following steps. (1) Make sure that the supplied Interface Card is not inserted into the PC card slot. (2) Turn on your computer. Windows 95 automatically starts. (3) Click Start, point the Settings. (4) Click Control Panel. (5) Double click the PC Card(PCMCIA) icon. Either "PC Card(PCMCIA) Wizard" or "PC Card(PCMCIA) Properties" window will appear. If the "PC Card(PCMCIA) Wizard" window appears, The 32-bit mode Windows drives did not setup yet for PC Card (PCMCIA) driver in Windows 95. Follows the step below to setup the 32-bit mode Windows driver. (a) Select No and then click Next. (b) Select No and then click Next. (c) Click Finish. The "System Settings Change" window appears. (d) Click Yes to exit Windows 95. The Computer will be turn off. (e) Turn on your computer. If the "PC Card(PCMCIA) Properties" window appears, The 32-bit mode Windows driver already setup. (f) Click Cancel. 1-3. Install the device driver After you confirmed that PC Card(PCMCIA) device has installed the 32-bit mode Windows driver, you must install the device driver in order to use this CD-ROM Player in Windows 95. We mentioned the how to install the device driver on your Setup Manual. You must follow steps on the Setup Manual, especially when you wish to install on following computer. (1) Computer has only one PC Card slot that is connected to floppy disk drive with PC card. (For example Toshiba libretto 20, Compaq CONTURA AERO series) (2) Computer has been installed SystemSoft CardWorks as Card manager. (For example Toshiba DynaBook TECRA/Satellite/PORTAGE, Panasonic CF-11) There is following driver installation method except for above method. == HOW TO INSTALL == Make sure that the Interface Cable is connected to the Interface Card and to the CD-ROM Player. (1) Turn on your computer. Windows 95 automatically starts. (2) Turn on the CD-ROM Player and then insert the Interface Card to your computer's PC cad slot firmly. "New Hardware Found" window appears. (3) Select Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer, then click OK. "Install From Disk" window appears. (4) Insert the supplied Setup disk into drive A (or B), and click OK. The initial screen appear and the driver has been installed. You can make sure that device driver has been installed correctly by following step. (5) Double click My Computer. If you find an icon that indicate CD-ROM drive, driver installation is successful. 2. Supplement 2-1. Multimedia Application To operate an Audio CD on Windows 95, the multimedia application(CD Player, Media Player) should be installed on Windows 95. == HOW TO INSTALL == (1) Insert the Interface Card into the PC card slot of you computer. (2) Click Start, point the Settings. (3) Click the Control Panel. (4) Double click Add/Remove Programs. (5) Click Windows Setup tab. (6) Click Multimedia in Components, then click Details. (7) Click the check box on CD Player and Media Player, click OK. (8) Click OK. But, if you have installed to Windows 95 by using the floppy disk, CD Play is not included. == HOW TO PLAY ON MEDIA PLAYER == (1) Click Start, point Programs. (2) Point Accessories, then point Multimedia. (3) Click Media Player. (4) Click Device, select CD Audio and operate key panel on screen. == HOW TO PLAY ON CD PLAYER == If you set Auto insert notification function to CD-ROM Player, CD Player automatically start after setting an Audio CD. But, if you turn on your computer with an Audio CD on CD-ROM Player, CD Player does not start automatically, in this case, you must set again an Audio CD, or start the CD Player according to the following steps. (1) Click Start, point Programs. (2) Point Accessories, then point Multimedia. (3) Click CD Player and operate key panel on screen. If you have installed a commercial Audio CD control software, this software start automatically instead of CD Player. 2-2. Auto insert notification When the CD-ROM icon on My computer does not change automatically after changed the CD-ROM title, make sure whether auto insert notification function is set or not according to following steps. (1) Click Start, point Settings. (2) Click Control Panel, double click System icon. (3) Double click Device Manager. (4) Click mark [+] next to CD-ROM and double click MATSHITA KME CD-ROM05. (5) Click Setting on MATSHITA KME CD-ROM05 Properties. (6) Make sure that there is a check mark on Auto insert notification of Options. If there is nothing, please check it. 3. Troubleshooting Guide 3-1. When the "New Hardware Found" window did not appear, even if supplied Interface Card inserted into the PC card slot firstly. (A) The 32-bit mode Windows driver did not setup for PC card device yet. Setup the 32-bit mode Windows driver according to the "1-2 Confirming the PC card(PCMCIA) device". (B) There were some driver for DOS/Windows 3.1, 3.11 (ASPIOMGR.SYS, ASPIO365.SYS, or KMECD.SYS) in the CONFIG.SYS file. Please put the "REM" to top of these line to ignore. (If you executed INSTDOS.EXE on Windows 95, the config.sys file is modified.) (C) Interface Card did not insert into PC card slot correctly. Make sure it according to following steps. (1) Click Start, point Settings. (2) Click Control Panel, double click PC card(PCMCIA) icon. (3) Make sure Socket Status. If you can not find "Panasonic KXLC003", Interface Card does not insert correctly. Please insert Interface Card into the computer's PC card slot firmly. (D) Interface Card was not set up correctly on Windows 95. Device driver was not installed correctly. Install device driver again according to following steps. (1) Click Start, point Settings. (2) Click Control Panel. (3) Double click System icon, then click Device Manager tab. (4) Turn on CD-ROM Player, insert supplied Interface Card into the computer's PC card slot firmly. (5) Click mark [+] of each class to check whether there is a device with circled exclamation point or not. (6) If there is, select this device and click Remove button. (7) Remove Interface Card from computer's PC card slot. Re-install device driver according to your Setup Manual. 3-2. When the Insert Disk window appears during driver installation. When the Insert Disk window appears during the driver installation, even if you inserted the supplied Setup Disk into the drive, please click OK button, then when the File Copy window appears, type 'A:' and Enter key into the Source of File. 3-3. When you can not use CD-ROM Player even if driver has been installed. (A) Conflicting with another device == HOW TO CONFIRM == (1) Turn on the CD-ROM Player, insert supplied Interface Card into computer's PC Card slot firmly. (2) Click Start, point Settings. (3) Click Control Panel. (4) Double click System icon, click Device Manager tab. (5) Click mark [+] next to SCSI Controller, make sure that there is a circled exclamation point on Panasonic KXLC003. If there is circled exclamation point on Panasonic KXLC003, the resource of CD-ROM Player conflict with another device. Please setup again as following steps. (6) Click Panasonic KXLC003, click Remove button. (7) Remove Interface Card from computer's PC card slot. (8) Insert Interface Card again. (B) CD-ROM Player was not recognized == HOW TO CONFIRM == (1) Turn on the CD-ROM Player, insert supplied Interface Card into computer's PC Card slot firmly. (2) Click Start, point Settings. (3) Click Control Panel. (4) Double click System icon, click Device Manager tab. (5) Click mark [+] next to CD-ROM to make sure whether there is MATSHITA KME CD-ROM05 or not. If there is not, Windows 95 does not recognize CD-ROM Player. Please setup again as following steps. (6) Turn OFF/ON the CD-ROM Player. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
