INSTALLATION NOTES -----------------------WARNING------------------------- WHEN UPGRADING YOUR OUTDOOR ROUTERS TO THIS VERSION IN A POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT TOPOLOGY (SINGLE COR TO MULTIPLE RORs), BE SURE TO UPGRADE THE RORs FIRST ------------------------------------------------------- It is recommended to uninstall any version of the OR Manager program, before installing this version of the OR Manager. - From the Control Panel, select the option "Add/Remove Programs". - From the "Install/Uninstall" tab, select the option "Avaya Wireless OR Manager". - Click the "Add/Remove" button. Installation procedures are described in the "User's Guide" that came with your Avaya Wireless product. Please refer to these documents for information about installing and configuring your Avaya Wireless product. Avaya Wireless User documentation is also available in electronic format on the Avaya Wireless Web Site. (http://support.avaya.com/). You can download the documentation in Adobe's Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). To view or print PDF files you will need the freeware Acrobat Reader that can be found on the CD in the folder XTRAS or it can be downloaded from the Adobe Web Site (http://www.adobe.com/acrobat). NOTE for RADIUS users: To enable RADIUS Authentication for AP follow the instructions below: 1. First enable an interface as an Access Point. 2. In Setup > General Setup enable "Enable MAC Auth Library". 3. In Setup > Advanced Authentication setup. Enable "Access Control List" and "MAC Address Radius authentication". 4. In the same window click on setup > Enable X.802.11b AP. X is the number of the interface. 2 for slot A and 3 for slot B. 5. Save config. When you use static routing, make sure that the Default Router IP address is specified. This can be the RADIUS server or a router able to reach the RADIUS server. Without a Default Router IP address RADIUS will not function properly. ----------------------------------------------------------- 5. TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS At the time of release of this software, the following technical contraints are known: 5.1 IEEE 802.11 MIB Description: IEEE 802.11 MIB is not provided with the system release. Impact: IEEE 802.11 MIB is owned by IEEE 802.11 committee, that does not allow distribution by third party SNMP based management systems. Action: Check our WEB site (http://www.avaya.com) on the latest information about this matter, or obtain a copy of the International Standard ISO/IEC 8802-11: 1999(E), ANSI/IEEE Std 802.11, 1999 Edition, from either ISO/IEC or IEEE. Note: The OR supports only part of the IEEE 802.11 MIB (8 counters). ----------------------------------------------------------- 6. KNOWN ISSUES At the time of release of this software, the following issues remain to be solved: 6.1 Version of PC Card embeded software not shown properly Description: The version of the embedded software of the PC Cards (also known as the firmware) is not shown properly in the OR Manager (shown via Monitor->Interface Monitor). Impact: It is not possible to determine the version of the fimrware but as the firmware is embedded in the image, the version of the image covers this. Action: None. 6.2 OR Client in Europe seems to support just 11 channels Description: An OR Client used in Europe initially seems to support just 11 channels instead of the 13 which is possible in Europe. After connecting to a COR, the OR Client does support all 13 channels. Impact: Medium (confusion). Action: It is required to first connect to a COR via a channel in the range 1 to 11 to "enable" channels 12 and 13. ----------------------------------------------------------- 7.
