How to install Solaris/x86 version 7 or 8

1. This is the version 1.05 RTL8139/RTL810x serials driver for Solaris/x86 
   version 8 or 7.
2. It does not support Speed/Duplex-Force mode, it depends on 
   the hardware Nway auto-negotiation in this version.
3. It supports 3 PCI-VID_DID cards, VID_10EC_DID_8139 for Realtek's
   native, VID_1113_DID_1211 for Accton and VID_1186_DID_1301 for
   D-Link in the install script.
4. Install method:
    a. network setting:(example)
       hostname:solaris IP:192.168.1.1/24         
    b. Boot-up you Solaris/x86 and login as "root".
    c. Copy the "rtls" and "Install" into the temporary location in your
       hard-driver.
    d. Run the Install script "sh Install" or "./Install".
    e. Edit hostname in /etc/hostname.rtls0
       solaris  
    f. Edit /etc/hosts
       #Internet host table
       127.0.0.0	localhost
       192.168.1.1	solaris		loghost
    g. Edit /etc/netmask
       192.168.1.0	255.255.255.0 
    h. Execute "init 5", Solaris will reboot and scan changed hardware environment
    i. After reboot you can execute "ifconfig -a" to make sure the RTL8139 interface is up.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
