The driver (SMC1211.SYS) contained in the root directory is for
the following SMC PCI Ethernet adapter:

    SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)

The driver (SMC1211.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS) 5.0, and is used with Microsoft Windows Millennium

Installing NDIS5 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows Millennium
=================================================================

    1. Plug SMC1211 series adapter into one of the Master PCI
       slots of your PCI platform.
    2. Turn the power ON then boot from Windows Millennium.
    3. Windows Millennium will install built-in Driver "SMC EZ
       Card 10/100 (SMC1211)" automactically.
    4. Restart your computer, then you can update the newer driver from
       the provided Driver Diskette.
    5. After your machine get ready in the Windows Millennium Desktop,
       please insert "SMC1211 EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)" driver
       diskette into one of the floopy diskette drives (A: or B:).
    6. Click right button on "My Computer" icon from Desktop then choose
       the "property" item from popup menu.
    7. Then select "Device Manager" page.
    8. Windows will prompt all device groups in your computer, please
       select "Network Adapter" group.
    9. Double click the "SMC1211 EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211)" device from
       "Network Adapter" group.
   10. Windows will prompt "SMC1211 EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211)
       Properties " dialog box, then please click "Driver" button .
   11. Click "Update Driver ..." button in the "SMC1211 EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211)
       Properties " dialog box.
   12. From "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" window, please choose
       "Specify the location of the driver..." then click Next button.
   13. Select "Specify a location " item and enter "A:\Win98" in the
       "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box, then click "Next" button.
   14. Windows will prompt inf file path "C:\WINDOWS\INF\NETRTSNT.INF" in the
       "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box, please select "Install one
       of the Drivers" then click Next button.
   15. Windows will prompt a dialog box for you to choose the  proper driver,
       please  select "SMC1211 EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)..."
       and the location is "A:\Win98\NETSMC11.inf" then click Next button.
   16. Click "Finish" button in the "Upgrade Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.


       NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows Millennium
                O.S. is located.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
