1. General Notes
------------------------------------------
This driver is used for connecting the digital camera to your computer with
the supplied USB cable.
The digital camera purchased uses Mass Storage Class USB, so that when the
digital camera is connected to the computer with the supplied USB cable, a new
drive number is assigned in "My Computer" in which the main memory and memory
card in the digital camera are mounted as a removable medium. Images stored
in the digital camera can be opened, copied and moved to the computer easily
using application software in the same way as for other removable media.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Hardware Requirements
------------------------------------------
- Computers preinstalled with Windows 98SE/98

- CD-ROM drive (for installation)
- Keyboard and mouse (or other equivalent input device)
- USB connector

* Operation is not guaranteed on the following operating systems.
- Computers upgraded from Windows 95/3.1/NT
* May not operate correctly depending on device configuration.
* Users of Windows XP/2000/ME do not have to install the USB driver.
The system will recognize the camera once you connect it to your PC
  and turn it on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Installing/Uninstalling the USB driver
------------------------------------------
- Installing the USB driver and connecting the digital camera
The USB driver contained on the CD-ROM must be installed to connect the camera
using a USB connection. Install the USB driver as follows.

* The USB driver cannot be installed in Windows XP/2000/ME.

* Installation notes
Do not connect the digital camera to a computer before installing
the USB driver (before inserting the CD-ROM). If the digital camera is
connected to a computer before installing the driver, the Plug & Play function
may automatically register it as an unidentified device.

If it becomes registered as an unidentified device, see "4. FAQ about USB" below.

1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Select [USB driver B], and click on [Install].

3. Installation starts. A window should appear afterward, indicating that
   the installation has completed.
Some personal computers may prompt you to restart. If you are prompted,
   restart the computer.

4. Make sure the camera's USB software has been set to function as "Mass Storage".
If not, change the setting to Mass Storage.

5. Insert batteries with sufficient power.
We recommend you use an AC Adapter.

6. Connect the digital camera to the computer with the USB cable and switch it on.

A dialog indicating [New Hardware...] appears. Then the memory card in the
digital camera will be recognized as a drive.

The system will recognize the memory card in the digital camera as a drive
whenever the digital camera is subsequently connected to the computer.

* Attach the USB connectors in the correct direction. Insert the connector in fully.

* The USB cable does not supply power to the camera. Use the AC adapter
  specified for the camera.

* Do not unplug the cable while transferring data or the data may be
  corrupted.

4. FAQ about USB
------------------------------------------
The following questions and answers include some of the inquiries most
frequently received from customers.

- Functions

Q1:
What can you do with USB cables ?

A1:
- With a USB-compatible digital camera as a removable disk drive, data can be
transferred in either direction between the computer and camera.
- Images with USB-compatible digital cameras can be loaded automatically
or manually into the Photo Loader.

- Troubleshooting

Q2:
The USB driver failed to install.
(Connection to the personal computer cannot be established.)

A2:
If an [Unknown Device] or a driver very different from the USB driver is installed,
the software may not start, even if the digital camera is connected to the PC
with a USB cable. Reinstall the driver after deleting the "Unknown Device"
following the procedure described below.
<Important>
When changing any computer settings, always record the original settings
so that they can be restored later if the need arises. If incorrect settings
are entered, the computer may not start properly, or programs and
drivers may not operate correctly. Consult the manual provided with the computer
before changing the settings. If you still have questions after reading the manual,
contact the computer manufacturer.
  1) Connect the digital camera to the computer with the USB cable.
  2) Switch on the digital camera.
  3) Select [Settings] from the Start menu, and click [Control Panel] -> [System]
-> [Device Manager]. Select [View devices by type] and find [Unknown Device]
from the list to remove it.
  4) After deleting the [Unknown Device], switch off the digital camera,
restart the computer and reinstall the USB driver.

Q3:
Other USB devices operate correctly, but the system does not recognize the
CASIO digital camera connected to it with the USB cable.

A3:
Even when all the PC system requirements meet the specifications, other USB
devices operate properly, and there are no apparent problems with the camera,
USB cable or USB driver, the system may not recognize the digital camera due
to incompatibility with the computer chipset in certain rare cases. CASIO
digital cameras are manufactured to be compatible with a wide range of
USB-standard products, and so no adjustments are possible with the camera. If
the computer is equipped with a PC card slot, purchase a commercially
available memory card adaptor and insert the memory card into this to import
image data directly. For a computer without a PC card slot, use a
commercially available memory card reader.
