Description:

  1. 940-OD.LAN is a Novell 3.x Server Driver and defaults to the 802.3 frame
     type.

  2. If there is only one 940 card, the driver will automatically read IOBASE
     and IRQ from PCI Configuration Space.

  3. If there is more than 940 card, user must input a specified IOBASE and
     IRQ.


Installation:

  1. Modify STARTUP.NCF as follows:

        SET MAXIMUM PHYSICAL RECEIVE PACKET SIZE = 4202

  2. Copy 940-OD.LAN into subdirectory - SYSTEM of your Netware server.

  3. At Netware server prompt, type:

        :load 940-od

  4. If there is more than one 940 card, you need to select IOBASE and IRQ from
     the screen.

  5. Bind IPX to the Winbond 940-OD LAN driver. At Netware server prompt, type:

        :bind ipx to 940-od <Enter>

  6. After you press <Enter>, the computer prompts you for the Network number.


Trouble Shooting

  1. Message: 'FATAL: Hardware Error - Unable to find W89C940 hardware
                  Module initialization failed
                  Module 940-OD.LAN NOT loaded'
     Solution: Make sure that your W89C940 PCI card is plugged into the system.

  2. Condition: Workstation can not attach to the server.
     Solution: Make sure that your W89C940 PCI card is connected to the cable.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
