This file describes the contents of the November 14, 2005 software
distribution package for the 4601, 4602, and 4602SW IP Telephones. 
 

The reason for the November 14, 2005 release of this software is:
  - The R2.3 H.323 GA release for the 4601/4602/4602SW


This package also includes:
  - The R1.1 SIP release for the 4602 and 4602SW
  - The R1.7.7 H.323 release for the 4690
  - The R1.8.3 H.323 release for the 4606/4612/4624
  - The R2.2 SIP release for the 4610SW/4620/4620SW/4621SW
  - The R2.3 H.323 release for the 4601, 4602 and 4602SW
  - The R2.3 H.323 release for the 4610SW/4620/4620SW/4621SW/4622SW
  - The R2.5 H.323 release for the 4625SW
  

 
There are three separate language versions of this distribution package.
Each language version is available in three formats - zip, exe or tar.
Each language version supports either an H.323 or SIP upgrade strategy.

Use these H.323 versions when a majority of 4602, 4602SW, 4610SW, 4620SW, and 4621SW will use H.323 software:

The single byte software version provides support
for English and Western European Languages for all
sets(see product documentation for more details).

for Chinese and Russian for the 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW,

Use these SIP versions when a majority of 4602, 4602SW, 4610SW, 4620SW and 4621SW will use SIP software:

NOTE: If this package is chosen, all 4602, 4602SW, 4610SW, 4620SW and 4621SW will be upgraded to SIP. To convert these phones back to H.323, an HTTP server 
is required.

Each of these software distribution packages contains all
the files necessary to:
- convert a 4602/4602SW to SIP software
- upgrade Avaya 4624, 4612 and 4606 IP telephones to H.323 Release 1.8.3
- upgrade Avaya 4610SW, 4620SW, and 4621SW IP telephones to SIP Release 2.2
- upgrade Avaya 4601, 4602, 4602SW IP telephones to H.323 Release 2.3
- upgrade Avaya 4610SW, 4620, and 4620SW/4621SW/4622SW IP telephones to H.323 Release 2.3
- upgrade Avaya 4625SW IP telephone to H.323 Release 2.5
- upgrade Avaya 4690 IP Conference telephone to H.323 Release 1.7.7



The following files are included in all packages:

46xxupgrade.scr - This file is downloaded by the Avaya IP
telephones and instructs the telephones on how to upgrade
itself. This file SHOULD NOT BE EDITED. 
You MUST USE the 46xxupgrade.scr file included in the package
you are loading. DO NOT MIX files from single and multi-byte
packages.

System specific parameters should be entered into the
46xxsettings.txt file which is available for separate download at
support.avaya.com

To upgrade your Avaya IP Telephones:
 - Decide which language version and software version to install and download 
   the appropriate package.
 - Rename your current 46xxupgrade.scr file.
 - Unzip the zip or executable file in the outbound file 
   directory of your TFTP or HTTP server, as appropriate.
 - Make any adjustments to your 46xxsettings.txt file.
 - Reset your Avaya IP Telephones.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
