README.TXT for Windows NT 4.0 driver version 1.0 for
AIWA GD-8000 tape drive

The following steps will install AIWADAT.SYS on an NT 4.0
system.
 
1. Cable the tape drive to the system.

2. Start Windows NT.

3. Put the driver diskette in drive A:.

4. From the 'Start Menu', choose 'Settings', then
   choose 'Control Panel'.

5. Double-click 'Tape Devices'; the 'Tape Devices' window
   appears and automatically loads the driver list.
   Click 'Have Disk'.

6. The 'Install from Disk' window appears. Ensure that the
   source directory is A:\.

7. Click OK.

8. The 'Install Driver' window appears. In the 'Tape Devices'
   list, 'AIWA Tape Driver for GD-8000' is highlighted.
   Click OK.

9. The 'New Tape Device Found' window appears.

10. Click OK to install driver now.
 
11. The 'Tape Devices' window appears. It shows 
    'AIWA GD-8000   (Driver loaded)'. Under the Drivers Tab,
    it shows 'AIWA Tape Driver for GD-8000    (Started)'.
    Click OK to close the window.

12. Close Control Panel.

13. Remove the diskette from drive A:.

14. Restart Windows NT.

15. From the Start menu, Choose 'Settings', then choose 'Control Panel'.
    Double-click 'Devices' and confirm that the AIWADAT
    device started.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
