Installing the Intermec InterDriver
-----------------------------------
Please read this instruction carefully.
Separate instructions are available for:
- Windows 2000/XP
- Windows 95/98/Me
- Windows NT4
     
Note: DO NOT INSTALL THE NT4 DRIVER (IN THE NT4 ONLY DIRECTORY)
      FOR OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS. IT´S ONLY TO BE USED FOR NT4,
      AND NOT FOR WINDOWS 2000 OR XP).
      
Note: IF YOU HAVE EARIER VERSIONS OF INTERDRIVER INSTALLED ON 
      YOUR SYSTEM - MAKE SURE THEY ARE REMOVED PRIOR TO
      INSTALLING THE NEW DRIVER. FOR INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE SEE
      SEPARATE SECTIONS BELOW.

Installing the Intermec InterDriver in Windows 2000 & XP
========================================================
1  - To install a new printer, go to Start, Settings, Printers
     (in Windows XP: Start, Printes and Faxes, Printer Tasks).

2  - Select "Add Printer"
     Note:Some Windows applications keep files open that the driver
     installation option needs to access during the install of new
     drivers. A Windows program that is not closed may result in an
     unsuccessful installation and a message of a driver or file being
     "Already in use".
    
3  - Select the port where the printer you are going 
     to use is attached. 

4  - Add the new printer as instructed by the Wizard. 
     When the list of printers is shown, press the "Have 
     Disk" button. 

5  - By default, Windows will select directory A:\. Select the folder
     X:\Intermec\InterDriver\.
     (where X represents the name of your CD drive).
      WARNING: Do not open the NT4 directory!

6  - Highlight the file "Intermec.inf" and press "OK". 

7  - Select the desired printer model from the list.
     Press "Next". 

8  - Complete the remaining steps of the Wizard. After pressing
     "Finish", you may encounter a "Digital signature not found"
     message from Windows. Please ignore this message and press
     "Yes". 

9  - InterDriver is now installed.

10 - You should now set up the printer driver to your specific
     requirements in regard of e.g. paper size, paper type and print
     speed. Detailed information about the driver is provided in the
     On-line Help, which can be accessed from the driver. 



Installing the Intermec InterDriver in Windows 95/98/Me
=======================================================
1  - To install a new printer, go to Start, Settings, Printers. 

2  - Select "Add Printer"
     Note: Some Windows applications keep files open that the driver 
     installation option needs to access during the install of new drivers. 
     A Windows program that is not closed may result in an unsuccessful
     installation and a message of a driver or file being "Already in use".

3 -  Add the new printer as instructed by the Wizard. 
     When the list of printers is shown, press the "Have 
     Disk" button. 

4  - By default, Windows will select directory A:\. Select folder
     X:\Intermec\InterDriver\ (where X is the name of your CD drive).
     WARNING: Do not open the NT4 directory!
     
5  - Highlight the file "Intermec.inf" and press "OK". 

6  - Select the desired printer model from the list. Press "Next". 

7  - Select the desired port, where  the printer you selected is installed
     and press next. 

8  - Complete the remaining steps of the Wizard. 

9  - InterDriver is now installed.

10 - You should now set up the printer driver to your specific
     requirements in regard of e.g. paper size, paper type and print
     speed. Detailed information about the driver is provided in the
     On-line Help, which can be accessed from the driver.

11 - To connect the printer to your PC and set-up the printer, please
     consult the printer operator’s guide.


Installing the Intermec InterDriver in Windows NT 4
===================================================
1  - To install a new printer, go to Start, Settings, Printers.

2  - Select "Add Printer"
     Note:
     Some Windows applications keep files open that the driver
     installation option needs to access during the install of new
     drivers. A Windows program that is not closed may result in an
     unsuccessful installation and a message of a driver or file being
     "Already in use".

3  - Select the port where the printer you are going 
     to use is attached. 

4  - Add the new printer as instructed by the Wizard. 
     When the list of printers is shown, press the "Have 
     Disk" button. 

5  - By default, Windows will select directory A:\. Select the folder
     X:\Intermec\InterDriver\
     (where X represents the name of your CD drive). 

6  - Highlight the file "Intermec.inf" and press "OK". 
     WARNING: Make sure that you have selected the 
     Intermec.inf file in the NT4 directory, NOT the top directory.

7  - Select the desired printer model from the list.
     Press "Next". 

8  - Complete the remaining steps of the Wizard. 

9 -  InterDriver is now installed.

10 - You should now set up the printer driver to your specific
     requirements in regard of e.g. paper size, paper type and print
     speed. Detailed information about the driver is provided in the
     On-line Help, which can be accessed from the driver. 

11 - To connect the printer to your PC and set-up the printer,
     please consult the printer operator's guide.


Instructions for removing InterDriver
=====================================


Removing InterDriver on Windows 2000 / XP
=========================================
1  - Reboot your PC.

2  - Open the printer folder by going to START > SETTINGS > PRINTERS 
     and then high light all the printer drivers from the same family 
     and then hit "delete" on your key board and confirm the deletion
     for each printer.
   
3  - Go into your \winnt\inf folder. Please note that this is a hidden 
     folder. If you cannot locate the folder refer to your system admini-
     strator. Delete all Oem*.inf files, which contains a reference to 
     InterDriver. They should all have numbers after the OEM, e.g. 
     oem1.inf, oem2.inf.

4  - Install the latest InterDriver as described separately.


Removing InterDriver on Windows 95/98/Me
=========================================
1  - Delete all your Intermec drivers in your printers folder.  You can do 
     this by going to Start>Settings>Printers selecting all your printers 
     and then hitting the delete key.

2  - Go into your \windows\inf\others folder and delete all Intermecoeem*.inf
     files which contains a reference to InterDriver. They will all have a
     name that starts with Intermec.

3  - Install the latest InterDriver as described separately.
 
 
Removing InterDriver on Windows NT 4.0
==========================================
1  - Log on as the Local Administrator.

2  - Reboot. 

3  - Delete all printers from the "Printers" folder by going to 
     Start > Settings > Printers. You can delete all your printers by 
     highlighting all of them and hitting "Delete" on your keyboard.

4  - Go into your \winnt\inf folder. Please note that this is a hidden 
     folder. If you cannot locate the folder refer to your system admini-
     strator. Delete all Oem*.inf files, which contains a reference to 
     InterDriver. They should all have numbers after the OEM, e.g. 
     oem1.inf, oem2.inf.

5 - Install the latest InterDriver as described separately.

6 - If it asks to keep existing driver or replace with the new one, 
     please choose "replace".

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
