============
Broadcom Advanced Control Suite(BACS) is an application that contains
a set of utilities supporting diagnostics and monitoring for B57XX
network adapters.
BACS runs under Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0,
Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows .NET32, and Windows .NET64.
Intermediate driver installation (require for diagnostics):
==========================================================
Please note:
fad.sys is required for 570X adapters.
bcm42xhw.vxd is required for 440X adapters on Windows 98SE and Windows ME.
Install fad.sys for Windows 98SE and Windows ME:
- Make sure network adapters are installed and configured properly.
- Right click on 'Network Neighborhood' and select 'Properties'
- Click 'Add' button.
- Select 'Protocol' and click 'Add'.
- Click 'Have Disk...'.
- Choose the path that has system\drivers\fad9x.inf file.
- Follow the instruction on each pop up dialog box to install Broadcom Frame Access Driver.
- Restart machine.
InstallShield setup program will install bcm42xhw file.
From Control Panel (Start->Setting->Control Panel ), you should see a Broadcom NetXtreme
Gigabit Ethernet icon. Double click the Broadcom icon to launch BACS.

Make network test more robust and informative
Change:
Always prompt for desitation IP address when run
Network test but OEM prefers the old method of
trying the gateway first then prompting for the
IP address if the Gateway is not found.
Impact:
None.
2. Request: (CQ #7715)
Request no limiting on Diagnostics LED Test Interval
Change:
End users has the option to enter in many seconds
they desire up to 99999. The test sets to 5 seconds
if end users enter number less than 5. The default
is 5 seconds.
Impact:
None.
Version 6.11 (April 25, 2003)
Enhancements:
=============
1. Request: (CQ #7619)
During BACS diagnostic tests, change mouse cursor
to hourglass instead of pointer.
Change:
Change mouse cursor to hourglass when end users run
diagnostic tests at single pass or after end users
stop the continuous pass.
Impact:
None.
2. Request: (CQ #7622)
After testing cable analysis in BACS, the response
time is delayed by 3 to 4 seconds when clicking on
other tabs
Change:
BACS version 6.11 remembers the current suspended
Broadcom adapter if any from Cable Analysis tab and
resumes the driver if end users select another Broadcom
adapter from the list or go to different tab. With
the current design, BACS does check all Broadcom
adapters on the system and resumes the driver if the
driver is suspended when end users go to different tab.
The checking process of current design will take time
if the system has a lot of Broadcom adapters.
Impact:
None.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
