Remote Boot (RPL) for Novell NetWare ========================================== Introduction ============ This document describes the procedures to use Remote Boot-ROM(RPL) with AEF-360TX Family PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter on Novell NetWare network. Installation Procedure ====================== 1. Make a bootable diskette, place that diskette into floppy driver A. > FORMAT A: /S <Enter> 2. Copy the required files to that diskette, for example, "HIMEM.SYS", "EMM386.EXE","SETVER.EXE" .... 3. Copy "LSL.COM", "RTSODI.COM", "IPXODI.COM", "VLM.EXE" and all VLM files (or "NETX.EXE") to that diskette. 4. Create "AUTOEXEC.BAT", "CONFIG.SYS" and "NET.CFG" files. 5. Login NetWare as supervisor. 6. Execute following commands: > MAP G:=SYS:SYSTEM <Enter> > MAP F:=SYS:LOGIN <Enter> 7. Change to the F drive, then Execute following command: > G:DOSGEN <Enter> 8. Copy "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file from the boot diskette to the LOGIN directory. 9. At NetWare Server console, execute following commands: (Supposing server use AEF-360TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter) : load RTSSRV frame=Ethernet_802.2 : bind IPX to RTSSRV : load RPL : bind RPL to RTSSRV (Choosing Ethernet_802.2 frame type) 10. Last, restart workstation using remote BootROM function to connect NetWare Server. --- Sample CONFIG.SYS file --- : DEVICE=SETVER.EXE LASTDRIVE=Z --------> only for VLM : --- Sample AUTOEXEC.BAT file --- : LSL RTSODI ---------> ODI driver IPXODI VLM ---------> or NETX F: LOGIN --- Sample NET.CFG file --- LINK DRIVER RTSODI FRAME ETHERNET_802.2 FRAME ETHERNET_802.3 NETWARE DOS REQUESTER NETWARE PROTOCOL = NDS BIND FIRST NETWORK DRIVE = F Install Bootconf.sys ==================== 1. Rename the Net$dos.sys as the you want XXXX.sys 2. Create Bootconf.sys in sys:\login directory if you have multiple boot images. The Bootconf.sys file format is as below: Node ID Number = Boot images files Example: Single Boot Images 0x0000f8000001 = ne2000.sys 0x0000f8000002 = RTS.sys Example: Multiple Boot Images 0x0000f8000001 = ne2000.sys RTS.sys 0x*,* = ne2000.sys RTS.sys (All the node)Download Driver Pack
