Upgrading the Operating System:

There are two methods to upgrade your CK30

                1. Using Intermec Settings Remote Upgrade
NOTE: This is the recommended method.

                2. Using an SD (Secure Digital) card.

Upgrading using the Intermec Settings Remote Upgrade method:

                1. You will need:
                        b. The device upgrade ZIP file. This file is available from
the Intermec web site. Go to www.intermec.com and then
                           choose Service & Support->Downloads.
                        c. A Communications Dock.
                        d. A USB cable to connect the dock to your PC.
                        e. ActiveSync (3.7.1 or later) running on your PC.
                        f. The Intermec Settings Application. Intermec Settings
Application is available from the Intermec web site as
part of the Intermec Developer's Library (IDL) download
                           or from the IDL CD.

                2. Install the Intermec Settings Application on your PC.

                3. Create a device upgrade folder and unzip the contents of this
                   zip file into it.

                4. Establish an ActiveSync connection between your PC and the CK30.

NOTE: ActiveSync is a free program available from the
Microsoft web site. For information on installing
ActiveSync and establishing a partnership, refer to
"Installing Applications Using ActiveSync" in the CK30
                        user's manual.

                5. On your PC, go to Start->Programs->Intermec->Intermec
                   Settings->Upgrade Device.

                6. In the "Select Upgrade Folder" Dialog Box, browse to the device
upgrade folder referenced in step 3.

Intermec Settings begins the upgrade process. When the
"remote device upgrade process has been started" messagebox
appears on the PC display, you can remove the CK30 and place
it in a second powered dock, freeing up your ActiveSync dock.
At this point the CK30 has received all the upgrade files,
and the upgrade process is underway on the CK30.

(NOTE: placing the CK30 in the second powered dock assures
that the CK30 does not auto suspend prior to the completion
                   of the upgrade.)

                7. If you need to upgrade more CK30s, place another CK30 in the
communications dock and the remote device upgrade starts
                   automatically.

Upgrading using the SD card method:
                1. You will need:
                        a. The device upgrade ZIP file. This file is available from
the Intermec web site. Go to www.intermec.com and then
                           choose Service & Support->Downloads.
                        b. An SD card.
                        c. an SD card reader/writer (recommended, but not required).

                2. Unzip the contents of this zip file on your desktop PC.

                3. Copy the contents of this upgrade zip file to an SD card.
                        a. You can use any file transfer method to copy the
contents of the zip file to your SD card. Intermec
recommends using an SD card reader/writer.
                        b. Do not place the zip file on the SD card (only the
contents of the zip file need to be placed on the SD
                           card).

                4. Insert the SD card into the CK30.

                5. Cold boot the CK30. For help, see "Cold Booting The CK30" in the
                   CK30 user's manual.

                6. After the upgrade is complete remove the SD card from the CK30
(or delete the files from the SD card).
