Create a printer queue on a network server for each XLS-8660 printer used over the network. See your "Network Administrator" to set up a LPR port(Win NT server) or Standard TCP/IP port(2000 & XP server) and associate the Queue name to the printer's TCP/IP port address. 2.) a. If the Select a Printer dialog's Page media and Ribbon fields are empty, click Update. The Printer Status dialog is not updated if the printer is turned off or if communications with the printer fails in some other manner. ***************************************************************** ** ** ** T R O U B L E S H O O T I N G ** ** ** ***************************************************************** --------------------------------------------- Export module does not show up in Photoshop --------------------------------------------- If the Export module does not show up in Photoshop, exit Photoshop and locate the file Kdk8660.8be. Your system should be equipped with an Adaptec 2940,2906,2930 19160,29160N SCSI host adapter. 2.) ASPI drivers must be installed. These drivers may be obtained from http://www.adaptec.com 3.) Slow the maxium transfer Rate to 10Mbit per second. Using your documentation from Adaptec enter the SCSI card BIOS at start-up <Ctrl-A> and adjust the SCSI channel being used for the printer to 10 Mbit. ------------------------------------------------------------------ "Printers Folder -- Error writing to LPT1: The requested resource is in use" dialog box is displayed ------------------------------------------------------------------ This occurs if jobs are sent too rapidly using the parallel port. Wait a moment for the parallel port to free up and press the dialog's Retry button. ------------------------------------------------------------------ "Printer Problem -- The selected printer is not available" dialog box is displayed when printing over a Novell or Windows NT network ------------------------------------------------------------------ This occurs if the export module is unable to send the job to the Novell printer queue. It usually occurs because the volume containing the queue is not mounted. Mount the appropriate server volume and retry the job. This problem also occurs under Windows 95 if Novell InternetWare Client software is installed. Uninstall Client32 to enable printing to a printer queue. ------------------------------------------------------------------ No print made when printing to a Novell or Windows NT print queue ------------------------------------------------------------------ Many print servers send a banner page job before sending the print job. Banner page jobs are not compatible with the 8660 printer and are ignored. However, if the banner page job does not end with a Control-D character, the print job is treated as part of the banner page job and is ignored. To solve this problem, either turn off banner pages or make sure that the last character of a banner page job is a Control-D. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Printer displays "Processing", then "Ready" without making another print when printing to a Novell or Windows NT print queue. ------------------------------------------------------------------ It is possible for the 8660 printer to display "Processing" for a short time (10 seconds or so) after printing a job received from a print server, then display "Ready" without another print being made. This can occur with print servers that send a form feed character after sending the print job. The 8660 printer treats this character as the start of another print job, and begins processing it while printing the job. If no other job is sent, the printer will time out and return to "Ready" after the timeout period has elapsed. If another job is received before this time out occurs, the second job (which begins with the form feed character) will be processed and printed as usual. Setting your computer or printer server so that form feeds are not sent after a job eliminates this behavior. ----------------------------------------------------------------- (C)2002 Eastman Kodak Company.
