Introduction to the Installation Package
========================================

Welcome to the installation package for the
Kodak photo printer 6800/6805 Calibration
software for Windows 2000/XP. This document contains
information to help you install and use the software
to calibrate the 6800/6805 printers.

Instructions for printing this ReadMe file
==========================================
To print this ReadMe file from Notepad:
  1) Select "File/Page Setup" from the menu bar to
     display the "Page Setup" dialog box.
     Change the left and right margin values to 0.5.
  2) Select "File/Print" from the menu bar. The font
     is set to Fixedsys.

Installing Kodak 6800/6805 Calibration software
===============================================

1. From the 6800/6805 CD, the calibration installer
   can be launched by navigating the CD Browser program.
   (Kodak680x.exe). From the Kodak Web site, download and expand
   the software and double-click on setup.exe to run
   the calibration installer.

2. Follow the instructions as the installer guides you through
   the installation.

3. It is highly recommended that the default destination folder
   listed be selected to install the software.

4. The installer may ask to reboot your system. You do not have
   to reboot the system as this message has no effect on the
   calibration installation.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
   The first screen of the calibration installer is the Welcome
   screen that has the greeting "Welcome to the InstallShield
   Wizard for Kodak photo printer 680x Calibration software".
   If that screen appears then install as per the instructions. If
   however, a screen comes up with "Modify, Repair, or Remove" the program,
   then the installer has detected that one or more files are already
   installed. Choose "Remove" and follow the instructions, then run
   the calibration installer again. This should bring up the welcome
   screen mentioned above. Follow the instructions and
   this will ensure a fresh installation of all required files.

5. Note the file C:\Windows\Kodak\Plug-ins (Printing)\
   Media Files\Kodak 6800 Media V170.RTB should not be moved, as the
   application expects to find it in that location.

Location of files after installation
====================================

The calibration installer installs the following
files at the locations shown below. A folder will be
created if it does not exist.
(Note: the Drive C:\ may be different depending
on which drive the Windows operating system is installed)

Windows 2000:
    C:\WINNT\Kodak\Plug-ins (Printing)\kdk6800.8be
    C:\WINNT\Kodak\Plug-ins (Printing)\
	Media Files\Kodak 6800 Media V170.RTB

Windows XP:
    C:\Windows\Kodak\Plug-ins (Printing)\kdk6800.8be
    C:\Windows\Kodak\Plug-ins (Printing)\
	Media Files\Kodak 6800 Media V170.RTB

Uninstalling Kodak 6800/6805 Calibration software
=================================================

   The calibration software can be uninstalled either
   from the program menu or from the Add/Remove program
   in the control panel.

Helpful Hints Using the Kodak Calibration Utility Version 1.1.2.1
=================================================================
1. If multiple printers are connected to the computer during calibration,
   make sure the printers are powered on before starting the calibration.
   Do not power cycle the printer or add another printer to the computer
   in the middle of calibration. Doing so will require the calibration
   process to be started again from the beginning.

2. When changing printers you must enter the "Select" dialog even
   though the "Next" button will allow you to pass by the "Select"
   dialog. The calibration software only remembers the last selected printer.
   If the printer or the media is changed, re-enter the select dialog.

3. The Kodak 6800/6805 Calibration Installer will install
   the appropriate Calibration files. Make sure to view the
   Readme that will be part of the installation.

4. When clicking on the Select Printer... button in the "Easy Cal
   Step 2 of 5" dialog, the software will attempt to connect to the
   printer to find out information about the printer. This
   information is then used to fill in the "Select" dialog.

5. If any problems are encountered please refer to the Kodak
   6800/6805 User Guide.

6. The Kodak 6800/6805 export module will appear in Adobe Photoshop's list of
   export modules. However, this export is intended for use with Kodak
   calibration only and does not support export printing from Adobe Photoshop.
   A dialog will appear with this information if the Kodak 6800/6805
   Export Module is selected.
