                  Instructions for Updating Firmware
Kodak Professional 1400 Digital Photo Printer

The following procedure will update the firmware in your Kodak Professional
1400 Digital Photo Printer to Printer Firmware Version AT01P1-116.

During the firmware download, you may be instructed to remove the ribbon from
the printer. If you are so instructed and you fail to remove the ribbon, the
printer may enter an error state when you try to print, which is signified by
the Media light turning red. If this happens, turn the printer off and back
on, reload the firmware and carefully follow the instructions when told to
remove the ribbon. In most cases, this should correct the error.

NOTE: You only need to update your firmware if your printer firmware version
is less than version AT01P1-116. To determine your current firmware version,
make a Test Print.

To make a Test Print:

1) Turn off the printer.

2) Turn on the printer while holding the "Cancel" button.

3) After 10 seconds, release the "Cancel" button.

4) After the printer has finished initializing, momentarily press the "Cancel"
   button.

The firmware version number will be shown on the second line named Firmware
   Version.

5) Turn the printer OFF and then back ON.

Firmware Update Procedure:

1) Connect the 1400 printer to the computer via the USB connection and turn
   on the printer.

2) Launch the firmware downloader utility by double-clicking on the file
   named 1400_Updater_116.exe.

3) After successfully launching the downloader utility, click on the DownLoad
button in the "Firmware Upgrade Application for 1400" screen.

4) Click "OK" on the "Upgrade firmware now?" screen.

5) You will see a progress bar downloading the firmware. DO NOT UNPLUG or
Power down printer while file is downloading, as this may cause a problem
that will corrupt the digital board, causing the printer to not operate.

6) After the file is downloaded the upgrader may ask you to remove the ribbon
from the printer. REMOVE THE RIBBON, CLOSE THE COVER, THEN CLICK OK.

7) The upgrader will now inform you to install the ribbon. Install the ribbon
into the printer and click OK.

   The upgrade is now complete.
