  USB2.0 TO IDE/ATAPI Installation instruction   
 Windows98 Second Edition, WinME, Win2000, WinXP 
 ========================================================================

 ** Windows 98SE ( Second Edition ) **

 1. Plug the USB Device ( USB cable ) into your computer, 
    turn on the power switch on the rear of the enclosure,
    and Insert the " USB " disk to your CD drive.
 2. The Device Drive Wizard will pop up. 
    Click on " Next ". The " Recomend " option will selected 
    When you are asked with the following: 
    " Do you want Windows to search for your hardware? "
    Follow the instructions and Select " Next " 
 3. Click on the path selection of CD-drive to " \USB\Win98ME
    to make the path to the location of drive program.
    Follow the instructions and Select " Next " the drive programs will
    load by itself. Once the drive instruction is completed, hit close.
 4. After select " Finish", the drive programs will search the new device 
    by itself. (This motion will make the system hold on few seconds. )
 5. If everything is okay, The " My computer" will append a new drive
 6. If there is no icon on " MY COMPUTER ", please right click 
    on " My Computer and check the " Control panel\Device Manager\System properties
    \USB Port Driver is working properly, and go to 
    " Control panel\system properties\Device manager select the Setting tab, 
    place a check beside " Removable " and the assing it a drive letter.
    ( Last Drive setting is requested ) and disable the option of " Disconnected ".
 7. After completing there steps, you will have to reboot your computer, 
    Once your computer has booted up you should see an additional icon 
    on your Task Bar. Double click " My Computer. Your new drive 
    " Hard Disk " or " Removable disk " should now be lised.
 8. If it is a new drive or drive with an incompatible format, 
    you need to format it. Click yes. A new window will apper. 
    At the top the capacity of your drive will be listed, directly below that 
    will select Full and select Start. Read and follow the instruction 
    to finish setting up your drive.

 ** Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP **

 1. Plug the USB Device and turn on the power switch on the rear of the enclosure,
    A Removable Disk will appear automaticly. 
 2. If it is a new drive or drive with an incompatible format, 
    or a Factory new drives without " Partitioning & Formatting "
    . Right click on " My computer " and choose " Manage "
    . Select " Disk Managemen "
    . Choose the drive you want to format and right click 
      on it for further commabds ( Choose New Partition )
    . follow the Partition Wizard
    . See following " Formatting & Partition Notice !! 
    ( Remember. formating your drive will result in loss of data )

** How to Remove the device from Computer **

 1. Right-click the green arrow icon on the right side of system tray.
 2. Select Remove/Reject
 3. Highlight the USB Mass Storage Device in the dialog box, then click on Stop 
 4. Wait until the " You may safely remove this device " message appears.
 5. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and turn off the power switch on the
    rear of the enclosure. 
 
 Warning !!
 If your computer reports that the drive is busy, you must shut down 
 your computer and then remove the drive. 
 Failure to do so many result in data loss or corruption.
 Be certain to follow the above procedure to remove device from the computer;
 otherwise, the computer could crash and jeopardize valuable data permanently.    

 Formatting & Partition Notice !!

 . If you use Win2000 or WinXP and FAT32. The biggest single partition 
   you can creat will be 32GB. To create larger partitions, you need 
   to use the DOS command under Win98SE or WinME or change to NTFS format.
 . If you can not see the drive, make sure the jumper setting of your Device
   are correct on " Master " , the drivers are installed and the power 
   is turned on !
 . If you need to create several partitions, you need to use the DOS command 
   under 98SE or WinME, it's required to format the drive again.
 . Win98SE and WinME do not recongnize NTFS formatted drives, so if you want 
   to use your drive on those platforms, we recommend you to use FAT32 instead. 
 . Mac OS does not recognize NTFS formatted drives. To yse your device on both 
   platforms, we recommend you using FAT32.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
