This document supplements the "Ositech Four of Diamonds Ethernet
User's Guide" and the accompanying software. Please read this document in
its entirety before installing this software. This document describes the
installation instructions for the Four of Diamonds MDI Ethernet driver for
SCO Unix System V Release 3.2v4.2 and SCO Unix System V Release 3.2v5.0.0.

This document contains information specific to this "Trumpcard SCO Unix
and UnixWare Drivers Diskette". More general, up-to-date information on
Version 1.10 of the Ositech Four of Diamonds Trumpcard software, including a
directory map of all text/readme files on all diskettes, can be found in the
README.TXT file located on the "Trumpcard Diagnostics, Utilities and Modem
Scripts Diskette".

1. Installation Instructions

These installation instructions assume that you are familiar with SCO
UNIX in particular the installation of software packages.

1.1 Requirements

In order to successfully complete the installation process the following
are required:

  > I/O ports and IRQs that you wish to assign to the Modem function.
You can use "hwconfig" to see what devices are currently configured
on your SCO UNIX system. The modem can only be placed at one of these
     four I/O locations: 0x2e8, 0x2f8, 0x3f8 or 0x3e8.

  > A 4k memory window in the range of 0xc0000 and 0xf0000 to which you
can assign the enabler. The default is location is 0xc8000.

  > 2MB of free disk space in the filesystem containing the /tmp
directory for the temporary files which are created during the install
     process.

  > If using an ISA legacy PCMCIA interface card in a machine with a PCI Bus
you must use the BIOS configuration to open a ISA compatibility memory
window which encompasses the 4k memory window (described above).

  > Knowledge of how to use the SCO "netconfig" utility.

1.2 Installing the MDI Driver

NOTE: You MUST be logged on as "root" in single-user mode to install the
driver because the installation process will require you to relink
      the kernel.

The MDI driver is installed by running the SCO Unix "custom" utility which
will use the file, "SCO\CUSTOM.DST" to actually install the driver. A
typical install would appear as follows:

        $ su
enter the root password at the Password: prompt

If you are not already in the System Maintenance mode, use the
following command to reboot the machine:

        # /etc/shutdown -i1

        INIT: SINGLE USER MODE

Type CONTROL-d to proceed with normal setup,
(or give root password for system maintenance):

enter the root password to activate the System Maintenance
                mode

        # custom

Then simply follow the instructions which appear to complete the installation
of the network driver. After the driver software has been installed on the
machine, you will need to run the "netconfig" utility:

        # netconfig

Select the Ositech adapter and specify the needed resources that this
instance of the adapter will use. After this, you will need to bind one of
the protocols to the adapter.

When you have everything configured exit netconfig and relink the kernel.
When you reboot, the Trumpcard should be present in your machine.

1.3 Installing multiple Trumpcards

You may run the utility "netconfig" to add a second ethernet adapter. Each
ethernet Trumpcard should carry a unique network IP address. Please see the
"netconfig walkthrough" section of this document for detailed installation
steps.

1.4 Netconfig walkthrough

The following is a menu walkthrough after executing the netconfig command on
SCO 5.0.0.

Now that the two cards have been installed, exiting the utility will prompt
to rebuild UNIX kernel. After rebuilding the kernel, rebooting the system
with the two cards inserted should be sufficient to have them running.

2. Known Problems

If you are using an ISA PCMCIA controller in machine that has a PCI Bus, then
you will have to open an ISA compatibility memory range that includes the 4k
memory window that you are going to be using with the Trumpcard.

You CANNOT hot swap the Trumpcard at this time.
