Description of Driver Installation Files
========================================
The latest versions of these files are contained in the Support section
of the ConnectCom web site (http://www.connectcom.net).

Creating the "Windows NT Installation" Diskettes
================================================
Windows NT requires three installation diskettes as well as the
AdvanSys driver diskette described below. If you do not have these
three Windows NT installation diskettes they can be created from
DOS using WINNT.EXE or from Windows NT using WINNT32.EXE. These
commands can be found on the Windows NT installation CD.
DOS: WINNT.EXE /OX
WINDOWS NT: WINNT32.EXE /OX
Creating the "Windows NT4 AdvanSys Driver" Diskette
===================================================
NOTE: You can skip this step if you have the AdvanSys release
diskette. It is already set up as a driver diskette to allow you
to install the AdvanSys driver.
To create a driver diskette for installing the AdvanSys Driver
to a new or existing Windows NT4 system, copy all of the Windows NT4
driver files (txtsetup.oem, nt4asc.inf, nt4asc.sys) to the
top directory of a DOS formatted floppy diskette. Label the diskette
"Windows NT4 AdvanSys Driver" and also record the driver version number
for future references.
New Windows NT4: Driver Installation
===================================
This is the instruction for installing Windows NT4 onto a new
SCSI drive connected to the SCSI Adapter. The Windows NT4 setup can
be started by booting from the "Windows NT Installation" diskettes,
or by booting from the Windows NT4 CD-ROM. (Booting from a SCSI
CD-ROM requires that the CD-ROM is connected to a SCSI Adapter
that has its CD Boot feature enabled: hit Ctrl-A when the SCSI Adapter
BIOS banner shows up to see what features are enabled.)
When the Windows NT4 text-phase setup first initiate, hit the F6 key
immediately after the first blue text setup screen appears. This will
allow installation of SCSI adapter drivers during the text-phase setup.
At some point during the text-phase setup, you will be asked whether
you want to: "Specify Additional Driver". Answer yes by selecting 'S'
and a list of drivers will be presented. From this list select "Other".
When asked to enter a diskette, insert the "Windows NT4 AdvanSys Driver"
diskette.
A list of available SCSI Adapter drivers will be displayed. Select the
one that matches the SCSI Adapter you have in your computer.
If an AdvanSys SCSI adapter is found and the driver is successfully
loaded, Windows NT4 will display a message indicating that the driver
was loaded. After this message is displayed, press "Enter" to
continue the installation.
Existing Windows NT4: Driver Installation
=========================================
Note: Before you begin, you need an account with administrative
privileges to install these NT drivers onto your system.
Install the SCSI adapter into your computer before installing
the driver.
Place the "Windows NT4 AdvanSys Driver" Diskette into the A:\ drive.
Go to 'control panel', double-click on SCSI Adapters.
In SCSI Adapters, select the Drivers tab and click on Add.
(If replacing drivers, select the driver to be replaced and
click on Remove. Do this before adding the replacement driver)
In the Install Driver window, click on "Have Disk".
Type in "A:\" and click OK.
Select the appropriate driver from the list and click OK.
Restart the computer.
Determining the AdvanSys Driver Version
=======================================
To determine the version number of the AdvanSys Windows NT driver
use the File Manager to look at the "Properties->Version" of the
AdvanSys driver file \X\system32\drivers\nt4asc.sys. X is the
directory of the currently running Windows NT system. X is
typically \WINNT. The File Manager "View" options setting must be
set to "All Files" to allow "nt4asc.sys" to be visible in the directory
"drivers".
