You can use GroupWise Guides to help you set a vacation rule that takes care of your mail while you're sipping iced tea in the Bahamas!  Click Help > Guides.
You can reorganize the folders in your Main Window.  In the Folder List, drag a folder to a new location.  Hint: Drag a folder with the right mouse button to get more options.
Getting information on any GroupWise feature is a few mouse clicks away.  Click Help > Help Topics > the Index tab > type the term.
You can create unique display settings for one or more folders.  For example, you can choose the columns to display, the order and size of the columns, and the sort order.  To create a display setting, right-click a folder > Properties > click the Display tab > the settings you want > Save As.
Icons show you the status of incoming and outgoing items.  For example, if an appointment you scheduled has an icon that looks like a square clock, not every recipient has accepted the appointment.  To find out who declined the appointment, right-click the appointment in the Sent Items folder > click Properties.
GroupWise items have added versatility.  You can change an item in your Mailbox to another item type.  For example, you can drag a received mail message to the Task List folder to convert the mail message to a task.
To attach a file to an item, drag the file from the desktop or Windows Explorer onto the Create New Mail icon in the GroupWise toolbar.
Franklin Day Planner filler pages that you buy from the Franklin Quest retail stores or catalog may vary slightly from package to package.  To adjust the horizontal and vertical printing offsets that GroupWise uses to print your Calendar information, click File > Print Calendar > the Calendar Options tab > change the Preprinted Page Adjustment offset options.  You need to do this only once per package (a year).
You can use folders to share information with your team.  Create a shared folder, then use it to store project documents and messages.  To share a folder, right-click the folder > click Sharing > Shared With > enter the names of the people with whom to share the folder contents.
You can hold group discussions in a folder you share with your project team. To display the e-mail discussion of an original item and all its replies grouped in hierarchical order, right-click the shared folder > Properties > click the Display tab > View By > Discussion Thread.
To comment on a document in a shared folder, right-click the document > Reply.  To display the document and all its replies in hierarchical order right-click the folder > Properties > click the Display tab > View By > Discussion Thread.
To quickly import a document into GroupWise, drag the document from the desktop or Windows Explorer to any folder in the Main Window.  Hint: Drag the document with the right mouse button to get more options.
To create shortcuts for a GroupWise item or folder, drag the item or folder to the desktop.  Double-click the shortcuts to open GroupWise and the item or folder that you access frequently.
If you created shortcuts to GroupWise folders and items on the desktop, you can drag an item shortcut onto a folder shortcut to move the item into that folder.
To a send someone a file from your desktop or Windows Explorer, right-click the file > Send To > GroupWise Recipient.
You can drag an attachment from an item to the desktop.
To attach a file, you can drag it from the desktop or Windows Explorer to the Attach box of a GroupWise item.
To delete an item you dragged onto the desktop, right-click the item > Delete Item.  Clicking Delete and Empty Item deletes the item from the Trash as well.
To import a file from your desktop or Windows Explorer to GroupWise, right-click the file > Send To > GroupWise Library.  You can find the file in your Mailbox.
You can save a view you use often to the desktop.  Open the view > right-click the icon in the upper-left corner of the view and drag the icon to the desktop > click Copy Here.
To copy or move an opened item to the desktop, right-click the icon in the upper left corner of the view and drag the icon to the desktop > click Copy Here or Move Here.
To quickly access commonly used commands for any item, right-click the item.
Now, you can view an Envoy attachment instead of launching Envoy to view the file.  While viewing an Envoy attachment, you can click the controls in the document, such as buttons.
If you have lots of mail to wade through, QuickViewer lets you quickly scan the contents of selected items.  Click View > QuickViewer > each item you want to read.  You can also use the arrow keys to read the previous or next item.
GroupWise remembers your last Main Window settings the next time you open GroupWise.  These settings include window size preference and whether you opened QuickViewer.
You can store any type of files in the GroupWise Library.  For example, you can store text documents, spreadsheets, applications, and compressed files.
To send a document to a GroupWise user, first import the file into your GroupWise Library, then send the document reference to the user.  Sending a document reference saves disk space, gives you better file security, and allows you to track each file access.  To import a document , click File > Import Documents.
To set the default attributes for each document you store in GroupWise, click Tools > Options > double-click Documents > click Properties.  If you often change attributes other than the subject, click Full Property Sheet.
To access a document you opened recently, look for it in the Work In Progress folder.
If you're in the middle of drafting a message, but have to tend to some other business, save the item as a draft in the Work In Progress folder.  Click File > Save Draft.
To see who opened or viewed a document, right-click a document reference > Properties > click the Activity Log tab.
To create a new version of a document so you can change the new version while keeping the original intact,  click File > New > Document Version.
You can open and save documents to GroupWise from Corel WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Lotus WordPro.  Documents from other applications may be stored in GroupWise, but they must be opened from GroupWise rather than from the application.
If you don't want to save your documents to GroupWise while working in Corel WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Lotus WordPro, click Tools > Options > double-click Documents > uncheck Enable Integration With Other Applications.
To preventing others from editing a document while you take it away from the office, click the document > Actions > Check Out.
Instead of sending attachments, you can share multiple documents with other GroupWise users by importing the documents into GroupWise.  To import a document, click File > Import Documents.  To share the document, right-click the document > Sharing > click your sharing options.
To import only one file into GroupWise, click File > New > Document > Select a File.
To import an attached file into GroupWise, drag the attachment to a GroupWise folder.
To display the properties of an item in the Main Window, click the item > press ALT+ENTER.
To search for specific documents and items, click Tools > Find.  You can save the search results in a folder by clicking File > Save As Folder.  Each time you open the folder, GroupWise updates the folder with the latest items that match the search criteria.
To find your documents quickly, create a search folder that displays all the documents you authored.  Click Tools > Find > Advanced Find > Author > = > type your name.
To update the contents of an opened Find Results folder, click View > Refresh.
GroupWise often finds the name you're looking for before you finish typing the entire name in an item's To box or in the Address Book.  You can also press Up- or Down-arrow to cycle through the previous or next names.
When you type a name in the To box and press Enter, a list drops down.  You can delete, edit, get information, cut, copy, or paste names to this list by right-clicking a name from the list and selecting an option.
When you send and receive items, GroupWise adds the recipient and sender names to the Frequent Contacts tab in the Address Book.  Frequent Contacts also keeps track of the date and time of the last communication and the number of times you have communicated with a user.
You can personalize addressing information in the Frequent Contacts address book.  For example, to address someone as "Hey Fritz!" instead of Anne Fritz, open the Address Book > click the Frequent Contacts tab > Anne Fritz's name > Information > Edit > change the display name to "Hey Fritz!"
You can add information to the address entries in the Frequent Contacts address book.  To add postal address information, phone numbers, and so on to existing entries, open the Address Book > click the Frequent Contacts tab > click a name > Information > Edit.
You can add personal addresses to the Frequent Contacts address book.  To add new names and information, such as Internet or internal office addresses, open the Address Book > click the Frequent Contacts tab > Add.
Every time you type in the To box of an item you're sending, GroupWise searches the Address Book for the closest match.  GroupWise searches the Address Book in the following order: the Frequent Contacts tab, the default personal address book (if you opened one), and the system Address Book.
You can create many personal address books, giving them unique names, but GroupWise will search only the one you mark as your default personal address book.  To set a default personal address book, open the Address Book > click the personal address book > Close.
The system Address Book contains all the people in your organization, and you can create your own personal address books.  You can put the name of anyone you want into your personal address book; the name doesn't even need to have an e-mail address.  To create a personal address book, click Tools > Address Book > File > New Book.
The system Address Book sorts only by the first column.  Drag the column you want to sort by and drop it in first column position.  For example, if you want to sort by department instead of name, drag the department column to the first column.
Your personal address books sort from the left to the right columns. To sort by department first, and then by name, drag the department column to the first column position > drag the name column to second column position.
To see who you've communicated with and how often, open the Address Book > click the Frequent Contacts tab.
You can read and send messages with a preferred view.  To set your default views, click Tools > Options > double-click Environmment > click the Views tab > select your preferred views for each item type > click Set Default View.
If you're scheduling a large group meeting and there isn't a free time for all participants, use Available Times to find the best meeting time for key participants.  Click Tools > Busy Search > select the meeting participants > click OK > the Available Times tab.
The items in the Main Window are sorted by the first or underlined column in the Item List.  For example, to sort by sender names, drag the From column to the first column position.  Or, you can right-click a column heading > click Sort Ascending or Sort Descending.
You can change the appearance of a message you send or receive by changing the type, size, and color of fonts.  To change font attributes, click Edit > Font.
GroupWise can automatically add a signature to messages you send.  Click Tools > Options > double-click Environment > click the Signature tab.
To display more columns in your Main Window, right-click a column heading > click a listed column heading.
To display a complete list of columns and select the ones you want to display in the Main Window, right-click a column heading > More Columns.
The buttons on your toolbar can display in both picture and text.  Right-click the toolbar > Properties > click Picture and Text.
GroupWise 4.1 Preferences is now Options on the Tools menu.  Use Options to customize GroupWise to your preferred settings.
Shared folders facilitate teamwork.  You can use a shared folder like a bulletin board to share information with selected people, start a discussion, post announcements, store a historical log of events, and more.  To share a folder, right-click the folder > Sharing > click Shared With > enter the names of the people with whom to share the folder comments.
You can stay connected even when you're away from the office.  To create a Remote Mailbox on your docked laptop so you can continue to send and retrieve messages while you're on the road, click Tools > Hit the Road.
If you installed Notify, you can set alarms to remind you of upcoming appointments.  In your Mailbox or Calendar, right-click an appointment > Set Alarm.
Notify alerts you when you receive an item, when items you sent are opened, and when an appointment is upcoming.  Notify is on when a globe icon appears in your Windows taskbar.
There is no limit to the number of people you can proxy.  To proxy a user who gave your access rights, click File > Proxy.
All GroupWise windows can be resized.  You can change the size of a window by dragging the corners or borders.
You can block off a chunk of time in your Calendar to prevent others from scheduling you for a meeting during that time.  Click the down arrow next to the Schedule New Appointment button on the toolbar > click Personal Appointment.
To add a button on your toolbar, right-click the toolbar > Properties > click the Customize tab.
To view all the documents in your GroupWise library, click Tools > Find > the Look In tab > select the library> click OK.
When you open an item, you can move your insertion point from one field to another by pressing Tab.
A variety of Calendar formats come with GroupWise.  You can access them from the toolbar if you add the Open Calendar button to the toolbar.  Right-click the toolbar > Properties > click the Customize tab > the Window category > the button in the Controls group box > Add Button > OK.  Try clicking the down arrow next to the Open Calendar button on the toolbar > select a Calendar view.
The Project Planner lets you view notes and tasks for a specific project.  To use it, create a folder for a project in your Cabinet > drag the project's tasks and notes into the folder > click Window > Calendar View > Edit > Change To > Project Planner > click a day you want to view.
To insert a tab in a message, press Ctrl+Tab.
You can mix your comments with a sender's message when you reply to an item.  Click Reply > Include Message Received From Sender > OK > add your comments.  Differentiate your text from the original text using bold, underline, italics, or by adding color to your comments.  Click Edit > Font.
In most areas of GroupWise, you can right-click to access features more quickly than using the pull-down menus.  Try right-clicking a folder or an item in your Mailbox.
Here's how to make sure your team always gets the latest information.  Link the Mailbox items you want to share to a shared folder for your team.  When you update an item in your personal folder, the shared version is automatically updated also.  Click the item > Edit > Move/Link to Folders.
If you send or receive faxes, the GroupWise Fax/Print Gateway lets you receive faxes right in your Mailbox.  You can also send faxes from GroupWise by sending messages to fax machines and networked printers.  Check with your system administrator about purchasing this optional and helpful component.
If you have lots of items in your Mailbox, you can use Filter to hide items you're not currently interested in, while displaying only certain items that match specific criteria.  To create a filter, click View > Filter.
You can create documents with your favorite applications without leaving your Mailbox.  To create and store documents in your Mailbox, click File > New > Document.
You can set up pay day or any recurring reminders without sending notes to yourself a thousand times.  Click File > New > Note > Actions > Auto-Date.  When you open an auto-date appointment, task, or note, you can accept all instances of the recurring items.
If you're connected to GroupWise in client/server mode, you can proxy across different post offices.
Conversation Place manages your telephone from the desktop so that you don't even have to pick up the phone.  You can answer your phone, place callers on hold, conference other callers, keep a log of calls, and look up and dial phone numbers by clicking Tools > Conversation Place.  To use Conversation Place, some hardware and software setup may be necessary, check with your system administrator.
Your proxies can't read the items that you mark private, unless you give them rights to open private items.  In your Mailbox, click the item you want to keep for your eyes only > click Actions > Private.
Your Mailbox shows received items by default.  To view your sent, personal, or draft items, click View > Sent Items, Personal Items, or Draft items.
If you don't have time to read an opened item and would like to get back to it later, you can change the item back to its unopened status.  When the item is opened, click Actions > Read Later.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
